@PC Gamer The first development diary for Torchlight Frontiers introduces Echtra Games.

“We felt like there was a lot more to do with the Torchlight universe,” he says.
After providing a tour of Echtra’s new studio, the video goes on to provide more detail about Torchlight Frontiers, which has attracted some scepticism due to it being described as a Torchlight MMO. Schaefer emphasises that although Torchlight Frontiers does take place in a shared world, it’s not going to adopt the mechanics of a typical MMO.

Gotta love how devs spin online game worlds or online Co-op games these days.

As a fan of the previous Torchlight games this, unfortunately, has me a little worried. We have seen other franchises (such as Sacred) get tarnished for 'current trend'.. I hope this sticks true to its roots but not looking too good.

I played and enjoyed the heck of Torchlight 1 as it reminded me parts of Diablo 1 atmosphere… I also bought on release Torchlight 2, played it and enjoyed it a lot, money well spent and some of the best Diablo clones along with Titan Quest and Grim Dawn..
The thing is, if you go make an online Torchlight, then it will probably be compared with the masterpiece ACTION (not rpg, just some basic elements) game that is Diablo 3 and king of its category which will not be easy.. Not to mention that there is already Path of Exile for everyone that for one reason or another doesn't like D3 and is a great game on its own too(i prefer D3 though, the no money economy of PoE drives me nuts since it requires a lot of meta game trading n stuff)..
p.s. Yeah D3 gets a lot of hatred from people looking for an RPG but when you see it as an action game it is the best hack n slach game since Golden Axe.

There's just no need for another MMO like this.
Single player Torchlight was a blast! It was fully moddable, so you could change anything you didn't like and do some pretty outrageous things (I conquered the whole world with my own private army of ferrets). Great fun!
But I have absolutely no desire to play a static online game that can't be modded. To add insult to injury, now you're expected to play with other people! Horrible idea!
I'll be giving this one a miss.

I was told at the Games Com that one can play it alone, too.
My question was through that hall noise that was taking place then whether the gme can be played as singleplayer as well, whether it can be played alone as well, and the person answering me said yes.
And thus, their number is growing …
