Hidden message in the demo stream.
Sorry to have kept you waiting for this for so long!Also the demo ran on an Intel i7-8700K and GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.
Did you like what you saw? Because for us, the fact that we're finally showing you Cyberpunk 2077 is HUGE. Please go to our forums, twitter, facebook, discord, and do tell what you think. Is the game world how you imagined? Do you see what we meant by "immersion" when we talked about CP2077 being an FPP RPG? How does our vision of "cyberpunk by day" make you feel? We really want to know.
Aside from that, we think we owe you a few words of explanation on why we're showing you this gameplay now, some time after industry professionals and media saw it at E3 and gamescom.
Each time we discussed the idea of showing the game to you (and we discussed this idea a lot), we were ending up in this "we're not 100% sure" limbo. Why? Because (for most people), when a game dev shows gameplay footage from their game, it means that this is how the game is going to look or play like. It's not the case here. Cyberpunk 2077 is deep in development. We have a lot of design ideas, a lot of mechanics being playtested, but we don't know what we'll end up with at launch. This makes publishing videos like what you just saw risky --we don't want gamers saying 'but in that previous video that gun was shooting differently', or 'why did you change the interface?'. Change is inherent to game development and there's a ton of things being modified each day. Our fear was (and kind of still is) that you'll think what you just saw is how Cyberpunk 2077 will look like 1:1.
What gave us that extra confidence to show you a work in progress game? Good initial feedback from people who are accustomed to see games at various stages of development. What they told us (and they told us they really liked what they saw) gave us the boost we needed to show the current version of Cyberpunk 2077 to the most passionate and insightful audience --you.
So… here's what Cyberpunk 2077 looks like today (or rather looked like when we recorded the video). We sincerely hope you liked it.
Again, thank you for your patience and all the thoughts you shared with us.

In the video, I mostly noted the slow speed of head (eye?) movements, not movements of the whole body. Maybe it's not only the speed, but also the "smoothness" of the movement?
I dont expect this to be a problem while gaming, unless they have a very odd control scheme.

Apologies on the wall of text but thought I would explain the view point of someone who always puts themselves into games … and I have been playing "myself" in games ever since I played the first Pools of Radiance RPG.
We don't play the same way in the sense that you imagine the character is you and I don't, but we don't really disagree on the point I was making. I wasn't arguing that one couldn't play as themselves; I was saying that being first perfect didn't ipso facto mean the character I'm playing has to be me, and therefore didn't find it strange to have the first person protagonist voiced. You must agree with that because you mention several examples of games in which the protagonist is viewed in 3rd person (Mass Effect, etc), and that doesn't keep you from imagining that person as you. I prefer first person for this game for a whole host of reasons, but I reject the idea that because it's in first person, there's no way to imagine that the character is anyone but me.

If Witcher 3 is anything to go by we can expected downgrades, so don't trick yourself with their warning that "graphics are not final" it might not necessarally mean they will be better.

If I had to give up my PC and just game on my PS4 then I would not enjoy gaming. There are several kinds of games that I just won’t play on console.
I definitely wouldn’t play this game or any other shooter on a console. The controller isn’t just a bit less accurate it’s substantially less accurate. Don’t believe me just ask all the controller user that get owned by K&M users in cross play games. So much so that games that offer that feature have to make it so controller players don’t get matched with K&M, it’s just too much of an advantage.
I’d be down to just sports games and any souls type game that released. Thinking about it I’d probably stop gaming if console was my only option.

I don't speak for everyone, but please don't pretend that there isnt a lot of very immature PC users who likes to pretend there's some kind of war between console users and PC (same goes for a lot of console users), and that you have to pick a side. It's really stupid. Both has strengths and weaknesses, i'm more of a PC gamer myself, but it's also because i'm a graphics enthusiast, if i was on a budget or just wasn't super into having the best graphics possible (or mods), then consoles all the way.
The way better price, more comfort and the advantages of analog movement control (in third person games this is really helpful, first person - not so much..) does make consoles a very enjoyable platform, but yes, it does take time to learn the gamepad controls (to get good with it).

My 2 cents on the mini debate re: pc gaming vs console -- I don't like playing on a controller either. I am firmly a mouse and keyboard person when it comes to gaming. A controller feels so clumsy and too much "like a toy" in my hands. The only console I ever owned was the Atari 2600 a long long time ago.

Speaking about the demo, CD Projekt Red's Marcin Iwinski told Kotaku what we were shown was a real build of the game, and was running on its REDengine4. As posted to the game's official Discord, CDPR's junior community specialist Alicja Kozera revealed the PC specs that made it so:But yeah it was only for the demo.

Anyway we all know games get minimum and maximum requirements. So when it's officially announced it will vary based on your system. Nothing new really.

There are plenty of crappy mouses and keyboards out there as well, yet i would never use them as an argument "PC controls feels cheap and like toys in comparison to a controller". A controller does not feel clumsy in comparison to having to use both a keyboard and a mouse, quite the opposite, it's way more comfortable and ergonomic + you can choose how to sit (well, more options anyways), something which is not possible with the more clumsy setup of mouse+keyb.

I agree with you about expecting so-called downgrades, though. Running something in isolation is much different from running an actual game with all its systems and moving parts. Optimization and the need to run it at 30fps on consoles will most likely result in changes here and there.

So much tribalism, so much angst. I've been PC gaming since I got a Commodore Vic 20 when I was 12 or so, and do so regularly to this day. At the same time (your mind is now blown, I'm sure) I play games on consoles regularly too! For some reason, I have never found it necessary to anoint a winner. I play games with different control methods and on different platforms and if the game itself is good and well made for that platform, presto magico I have a good time playing it.

AFAIK e3 wasnt a pre-recorded video, it was gameplay they showed with a 1080ti (Couchpotato posted the specs above). Eh, hard to say, maybe it just means they recorded the video with a 1080ti though.

Again, they do not feel comfortable at all. And I don't care about gaming while sitting in a relaxed posture on a sofa or couch. That has no appeal to me at all. You may love it, but that is your thing.
You are projecting your own preferences onto everyone else, it is very illogical. Other people know what pleases them and what they find more comfortable, better than you do, trust me.

My opinions on the gameplay trailer (after watching it twice and a half).
What I don't like:
- Red for the UI, hopefully that can be changed or there is a colorblind version
- itemization and level system feels like they took TW3 systems and just ported it over, I wasn't a fan of it in TW3 personally
- the floating damage numbers, but TW3 already had a toggle for that so I expect the same in CP
- lack of enemies feedback outside blood spurting to getting hit in combat outside reaching HP 0
- the amount of bullets (10+) required to kill a standard enemy with a pistol, hopefully that change after the balance passes (especially if they add proper recoils)
What I like
- While I don't like the color used, I very like the ncurses UI look.
- I kinda like the Unreal Tournament jumping/double jumping
- the car chase, I expected it to be a lot more clunkier and annoying
- 1st person interactions with panels and such
- contextual dialogue interrupts (the use gun stuff)
- the "living world" atmosphere
- the head-jacking + remove hacking
- dermal implants 3D printing (lol)

What's missing from the PnP game that would make it a better crpg in your opinion? Not everything in a PnP RPG translates well to a video game.
This game would of also been perfect for a complex faction system, considering CP 2020 often revolves around working for different gangs and corporations.
Finally, this game doesn't capture the aesthetic of CP 2020 at all.
Instead, the combat is fast-paced and visceral, and because of that, some people think it looks too "actiony". I think it looks like something I actually want to play.I want to play it too, but I think it's wasted potential for the license. This game could of been outstanding if they stayed true to the P&P game, but this looks like a generic open world ARPG. The gameplay reminds me of modern looter-shooters like Fallout 4.![]()
