Default Pillars of Eternity II - Seeker, Slayer, Survivor Release Date

September 6th, 2018, 18:26
The second of three DLCs for Pillars of Eternity II: Deathfire, is scheduled for release on the 25th of September.

Irvine, California – September 4th, 2018 - Independent developer Obsidian Entertainment, in partnership with indie powerhouse publisher Versus Evil revealed during their panel at PAX West the next major paid DLC release, titled “Seeker, Slayer, Survivor” for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, will release on September 25th.

“Seeker, Slayer, Survivor” is heavily focused around combat with a wide variety of deadly adversaries’ hell bent on destruction as players face down everything from dueling wizards to regenerating spiders. Based along three pillars of combat, the DLC will challenge Deadfire players in a new way. Choosing the Seeker, combat tasks players with looking for a solution to take down their foe, while the Survivor has combat that challenges fighting skills against waves of enemies, and finally the Slayer puts players in combat that will see their party go up against some truly fearsome creatures in a battle to the death.

“Delving into a rich story, exploring fascinating new environments, and unearthing powerful items are still crucial, but players will experience combat trials like they have never seen before as combatants in the Crucible said Brandon Adler, DLC Game Director for Obsidian.

Add to that a host of additional bug fixes and balance improvements, Seeker, Slayer, Survivor adds an action packed DLC full of challenges, puzzles and deadly adversaries to take down.

For me, the least interesting sounding of the three DLC expansion packs.

For me, that sounds like a DLC I would jump on right away. I hate to admit it, but I play crpg's and D&D to kill shit and for the strategy of battles. I can only take so much role playing and long winded back stories, before I want to ram my halberd into a goblin skull.

No chance of a proper ship combat DLC, I suppose?

To much effort, cost, and time to make one. Just my guess but probably right.

Rumor has it that Josh is working on an update to the ship combat mechanic. I rather thought he was working on other stuff these days. We'll see. Hopefully it will be an improvement.

Considering I just restarted after about 10h to change my build and how little time I have to play (those 10 hours were what i managed since I started two weeks ago) I'm pretty sure all the DLC will be released before I'm finished.

Meh, I like combat and all, but, for killing, I fire up the Murder Simulator aka GTA. I play RPGs for the exploration, characters, their development, story and lore, crafting my characters on level up, choice n consequence quests with multiple solutions(some hidden), playing dress-up with my rag dolls, and the atmosphere of a proper RPG. There's so much more, but combat is not at the top. Tho, bad combat mechanics can kill all fun, but decent + ones just add to the overall joy.

Kingmaker and POE 2 DLC? Nice! I need to get a meth habit going if I ever plan to finish JUST the RPGs released in this 3 month period.

Forgive me for not bothering to read this thoroughly - but will this be integrated fully into the main game as additional and optional activities?

It's a new island you can visit with a fighting competition going on. There are random encounters on the island as you explore it and even a plot associated with the competition going by an interview I've read a few weeks ago.

No idea of the character level requirements though.

Haven't played yet, but I just wanted to give kudos on the name. Seeker, Slayer, Survivor feels like how humanity or at least my mental health played out in a way. That name resonates with me. I'll give this a play someday, my isometric CRPG'ing is burned out a bit after my BG Trilogy run (where I again lost steam in the enormous and heavy-handed BG2…)

Purty. The second to last reminds me of Athkatla.

Looking forward to this one; PoE II is a great game. I lost my last save and will be making a new character later this month; wondering what class I should pick. Not sold on the idea of multiclassing, though.

My first character is a druid, while the second one is a mage-fighter. I enjoy multiclassing more as there are more options when leveling up and because you spend more time on lower level abilities.

Mage-fighter itself is pretty fun. At the beginning of combat I cast a bunch of defensive spells with a 0.3 second casting time, granting me superior protection that in turn allows me to switch to a weapon mode enabling greater penetration at the cost of deflection. Also focusing on high dexterity for speed and a specialist fighter subclass gives further penetration with a single weapon (sword in my case). All this makes the character hard to hit, while he's landing two blows for every one blow of the fighter-rogue Eder. Been focusing on Elex recently, but last I logged in I switched from light armour to robes.

I made Aloth into a battlemage, I agree that it's a pretty fun and interesting build. I am considering a druid, possibly a shapeshifter, but I understand that the main city has a water-druid who can turn into a shark-man? If he already has the shifting thing down pat, then I might just roll another priest.

I tried a Paladin but it was a bit… boring? Essentially my main character was just a tank and I didn't really have to do any clicking in battle. My go at playing a priest was more fun, plenty of stuff to do while the AI characters fight; cast a heal here, buff there, maybe an attack spell now and again. Perhaps a ranger would be good, and I'll go with the Valians so I don't double up with the gun lady. Or a dual-wielding close combat ranger.

I love playing a class like that. I played a Red Mage/Warrior in FF11 (MMORPG) and enjoyed it for the same reasons. Casting buffs/debuffs/attack magic at the start, switching to a good sword and chopping down enemies after that. Good to hear PoE2 has something like that. I actually was able to take down a few tough enemies single-handedly with that Red Mage. Fun times…
