An alpha at BioWare is a content complete game, what follow are basically release candidates.

By the usual definition, "alpha" is something that isn't feature-complete. If it was indeed complete, it'd be called a beta.
That said, it's certainly possible BioWare has invented its own definitions for the terms, and doesn't care about normal software development conventions.

They aren't the only ones who use it that way in the gaming world. CDProjekt does too. Last August, a dev said Cyberpunk was in pre-alpha because it wasn't content-complete, mentioning missing final art assets, despite being playable from start to finish.
Where I work we don't use pre-alpha or alpha (we make custom softwares). We just have milestones and release candidates. Beta is used for milestones or RC that were not tested that were given to clients to try early to remind them they will have bugs.

Still waiting for the next Mass Effect or Dragon Age game instead of this.
My only worry is this.

My only worry is this.
Don't worry, I'm sure they'll pull a TOR and just make it a silly MMO instead. Then defend it on twitter with something along the lines of "but guys! This is like giving you Mass Effect 5, 6, 7, and 8!"
"And this is what you wanted, but you didn't know you wanted it, but you are lucky we are here to tell you what you want."

W-eee-ll, we'll see how this turns out. Not much hype I'm reading on this, but it's hard to tell, most forums are SP oriented.
Wait they're calling it MMORPG? Is that from Bioware?
