Ultima Underworld - Source Ported

DSOGaming reports that Ultima Underworld has been ported to the Unity engine. You will need to own Ultima Underworld for this to work.

Old-school fans, here is something special for you today. Github's member 'hankmorgan' UnderworldExporter; a project that lets you experience the classic Ultima Underworld in Unity Engine with some major benefits. Thanks to this source port, players can use higher resolutions than those that are available in the DOS/GOG releases and use the mouse.

The latest release of UnderworldExporter fully supports the first Ultima Underworld game. Do note, however, that you will also need the original game files otherwise you won't be able to play it.

I'm not saying I'll play it now this way (or other games they're "converting" like this one - System Shock 1 is another), but this is the best Unity advertisment I've seen since it appeared.

Amazing game, but I'm now totally immersed into Tactics Ogre PSP: One Vision MOD. Then FFT: Rebirth MOD.

Assuming it installs easily and doesn't require a compute degree to figure out, I'd give this a shot.

You just need the original game and the contents of the zip file from github. There you have an .ini file where to edit the location of UW files. Run the Underwolrd Exporter exe, click on UW icon (if it says it has located it) and HAVE FUN with high res textures and smooth mouse look

This sounds great. I've been wanting to play UU for years, but it was too dated for me. This might be what I need to finally play through it.

For myself I think this game is just too dated. Sometimes memories are better than reality.

These ports are great in theory - but until someone comes along and updates the assets, there's not much of a point, really.

Setting them up in DosBox takes about 5-10 minutes. Not sure why people would spend months or years porting them for mouselook, but ok.
