At the Gates is a 4X grand strategy game from Jon Shafer, designer of Civilization 5.

You are a Dark Age lord. Your destiny is to build a kingdom in the shadow of the crumbling Roman Empire. Explore the dangerous landscape around you, harvest its resources, and build a mighty economic and military machine. Your clans have their own personalities and desires, so carefully consider how you use them.

Almost forgot about this kickstarter from a years ago. Good to see it finished.

Hmmm… but is it finished? I was following this but gave up after what looked like some delays/issues that made it look like it would never be done. It seemed Jon Shafer was having some serious health and financial issues and the game seemed abandoned. But that was probably 1 or 2 years ago now… hopefully he and the game are back on their feet.

Hmm not good as I stopped following development after it was funded.

Reading some forums, it sounds like the game is still in Alpha… so not expecting much of this "launch". Oh well, too bad.

Might be great Might be awful. How can we possible tell from what was presented ?

And now all I can think of is what it would sound like if Jon Schaffer did vocals for At the Gates.

I have two friends that are really looking forward to this one. Not sure if it's my cuppa, but I'll be keeping an eye on it.
