Avatar size

Maximum size is 80x80 or 8KB - and yet some of you have larger images that look like they take up more than 8KB of space.

How?

Team members get larger avatars. I guess, in some cases it's former team members.

Your avatar is only 64x64. If you went for a jpg with a little more compression, you'd probably be able to use the whole 80x80 at least.

I had to fiddle for minutes in Photoshop to get it below 8KB. That said, I saved it as something like 90x90. I guess something went wrong when uploading. Oh well, no big deal. Don’t want to crash the site with a massive 10+ kb image

I think it reduces the dimensions of the image, if it violates the size limit. Maybe photoshop did not save it correctly? In general, png was also not working very well for my avatar, hence I went for jpeg.

PS: This is something that paint does well enough, so no need for photoshop
