Divinity: Fallen Heroes announced
March 27th, 2019, 17:24
Larian Studios and Logic Artists (Expeditions series) has announced Divinity: Fallen Heroes, a new tactical game with RPG elements set in the universe of Divinity: Original Sin II. It will be released for “multiple platforms” in 2019.
Divinity: Fallen Heroes is a new tactical game oozing with RPG elements, set in the universe of critically acclaimed RPG Divinity: Original Sin II. Command The Lady Vengeance, and lead its crew through over 60 hand-crafted missions where your actions and choices define the story.
Fallen Heroes marries rich tactical gameplay with RPG choices and consequences, and introduces a wealth of new features and mechanics to the Divinity: Original Sin II engine. Delve deeper than ever-before into the rich, fantasy world of Rivellon as you command your troops aboard the Lady Vengeance. Explore new lands and wield new weapons and skills. Build your squad and vanquish never-before seen corners of Rivellon. Divinity: Fallen Heroes features two player cooperative play as well as a single player mode.
With the fate of the races in your hands, it’s up to you to lead the Lizards, Elves, Dwarves, Undead, Demons and Humans. Recruit hero and veteran units and dispatch squads armed with both magic and steel. Each decision will have to be carefully weighed as your leadership will be tested and your choices judged.
Key Features
Recruit troops, research new gear, and level up heroes aboard The Lady Vengeance.
Gunpower comes to Divinity. Lock’n’load with an arsenal of guns and rifles, but don’t forget to use swords and sorcery when necessary.
Interactive elements bring a new twist to the tactics genre. Toy with Oil, Fire, Ice, Water and Poison elements, joined also by the new Sulfurium element.
Play in either single player or coop, with tactical combat featuring simultaneous turns!

Just received the email as well. Pretty cool.
I like what Logic Artists did (especially with their first game though) and I like the DOS2 stuff, so this is a great combination.

Instabuy for me.
Here's hope the blend is good enough to slap Ubisoft for not delivering on HoMM franchise.
The question when will I find time to play it still remains. Time is not on my side…

Reminds me a bit of "Blackguards", also a game in which "evil is the new good".

So a Divinity game similar to Expeditions then? Hope it sells better.
Guess Expeditions: Rome is put on hold to make this game instead?

From the KS update:
we toyed with the idea of mixing D:OS tactical turn-based combat with Dragon Commander’s decision-making elements.
Last year, we gave the D:OS2 engine to Danish studio Logic Artists and asked them to see where it’d take them. Their brief was to develop a game in which your narrative choices affect which missions you can play-- and where your performance during these missions would affect subsequent narrative options.
The result was truly awesome. Thus, some time later this year, there will be a new stand-alone Divinity game featuring all our favourite characters, tactical turn-based combat, and plenty of difficult decisions to make.

I'll be curious to see what this actually turns out to be. One to keep an eye on!

Personally, I enjoyed Expeditions: Viking more than D:OS1&2… so I'd say it's a good news
E: Viking had fair share of its issues but it wasn't a shit/crap game by any means, it just needed more time in the oven and perhaps the devs needed more experience.

I think that Swen is taking a page out of Iron Towers book here. Divinity: Fallen Heroes sounds akin to Dungeon Rats where as D:OS 2 is akin to Age of Decadence.

Like Purple, I also enjoyed both of the Expedition games far more than I did the second offering of Original Sin. Both Conquistadors and Vikings are well worth playing, although I do prefer the first game.
