Any 'Watch opinions about this game? I played the beginning at a friend's place and wasn't sold. Seemed a bit lack-luster, but it got good reviews…
Does it pick up?

I had never heard of this game. I am guessing I saw "Dark Souls clone" or something like that and dismissed it too quickly. It looks good in this brief video and in a review.
What I didn't like about Dark Souls when I tried it for several hours are a) having to replay up to 30 minutes when dying, due to the save system; and b) the bleak and to-me-uninteresting environments which fit the theme but just didn't interest me. I also didn't like the storytelling which was extremely sparse so that I felt like I was just playing a fighting game for almost no reason. I'm sure that Dark Souls fans would disagree with my views and that's fine, to each their own.
From watching a review just now, Ashen seems to have good environments and potentially an enjoyable storyline not just filled with endless combat (though there is plenty of combat which is what I'd expect).
I can't determine from google searches if for Ashen you manually save the game anywhere or if it just saves at save spots within the environment. it apparently has 5 save slots so I interpret that to mean saving manually, which is what I like, but if you can't save anywhere then I wonder how much of an area I would have to replay (how much time it would take) if my character died or if I had to stop playing suddenly.
Having to replay an area is probably my biggest issue with some games, and some games in which you can save anywhere just save your character's state but respawn all of the enemies when you load the game, which is not what I would want.

I’m curious about the fov. I can only play games like this if the game comes with a slider or someone makes a camera mod.

The title of the news must be "Ashen will be released on other platforms at December 9" since the game was released months ago on Epic store.
