CPU for 3440×1440

In USA there were some fantastic deals during black friday; you just have to know where to find them. Now in Switzerland it might have been cheaper a few months ago but then again blackfriday is a USA thing.

That being said, good deals coming from Switzerland, they allowed to build at a 25 or 30 pc discount.
It takes to reside in Switzerland, near the borders or to know someone who resides in Switzerland to benefit from them. Limited quantities too. But meaningful discounts.

Built the "new" PC last night but didn't have much time to play around with it but CPU is 50C idle and go high as 80C on full load. The stock cooler is also loud

All games at max setting at 3440×1440. Only done 2 games so far, will post others later.

Witcher 3
Old PC - FPS (34, 55, 70)
New PC - FPS (45, 70, 95)

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey
Old PC - FPS (23, 45, 60)
New PC - FPS (30, 53, 75)

So nice and noticeable improvements for Witcher 3 but so so gains for AC

Is CPU the only thing new or did you also replace the GPU ?

GPU is the same, 1080 TI. However went up in ram from 8GB to 16 GB.

Had chance to play bit more games over the weekend,

Everquest 2
Old PC - FPS Low 20, Avg 50, High 70
New PC - FPS Low 20, Avg 70, High 120

This is 15 year old MMO and it does not make use of the GPU at all and it does not make use of many cores as well. Only uses about 3 cores so it seems the high clock speed on the new AMD 3700x is faster than Intel i5 4760k as FPS seems to have gone up.

New PC - FPS Low 50, Avg 80, High 120

So over all nice improvements in most of the games, so the upgrade was worth it but not by huge amount as expected

Still a bit more than I expected. Anyways, thanks of posting some results of the update.

I haven't played AC:O, but a mate with a 2080ti and 3800x reckons about 20 low and 70 high @ 1440p so I'd be happy with those results.

I still would have liked to see the dips to 55. Would be nice to see my assumptions be spot on. Close enough, though!

Your friends numbers don’t sound right. I’ve got a 2080ti and 9900k and get 46min, 81 avg, 151 max @1440p and that’s at ultra high settings.

You're right. 70 was the average!
