4 Minutes to the Apocalypse - Announced for 2021
September 11th, 2020, 20:21
Yemeth spotted the adventure RPG 4 Minutes to the Apocalypse:
HOW HARD IS IT TO PRESS THE BUTTON THAT ACTIVATES WEAPON CAPABLE OF ENDING OUR ENTIRE CIVILIZATION?More information.
It was a short nuclear war of just a few hours. It is not known who started it and why. Probably it was decided randomly. Perhaps it was a human or computer error. All those who would know are dead.
After the first rocket attack, everything happened so fast. Retaliatory strikes were launched one after the other with only a few minutes intervals. On that day, millions of people died and the largest cities were razed to the ground. Those who survived had to face the world, which with each passing hour and day plunged into increasing chaos …
However, This Was Just the Beginning.

The vast majority of weapons that belong to the arsenal of "The Last Day Weapons" were not used for some unknown reason. Created to deter and not to be used, powerful enough to end life on our planet.
After the war, which caused command centers to be destroyed and governments to cease to exist, this weapon remained without any control. One of the most dangerous units of this arsenal is the Arizona-12 secret submarine.
Who will take control over it and what will it be used for?
About This Game
- Explore the sinister space of the Arizone-12 submarine
- Discover the secret of events happened on a submarine during a nuclear war
- Fight with weapons and surrounding objects, look for hiding places
- Try not to get killed
- Take control of the submarine

Interesting but its not an RPG right? Looks more like a survival game.

As this game gives me vibes of survival horror. Also I don't see any RPG in that trailer. Frankly I'm starting to think we need a new tag and label it RPG Elements or RPG-Like.
Anyway it's an FPS survival game on a sub with RPG Elements.

Edit: Even the screenshots on Steam remind me of Dead Space.

I know that and I was not censoring you!

I'm just tired of hybrids getting labeled as RPGs. Someone mentioned before that using the term RPG has become the biggest PR buzzword nowadays to sell games.

Well, I may keep an eye on this game just because we don't see many survival games or RPGs taking place within submarines.

This appears to be one of those developers who throws in as many lables as possible to get search hits. This is a tactic some indie developers use in the desperate hope that people buy their game, damn the consequences.
A game developer which use all of the following lables to describe their game: action, adventure, rpg, fps, survival and shooter isn't making an effort to accurately describe the gameplay in their game, but is fishing for customers.
That said the concept is interesting. I'll wait for reviews to tell me how the game actually plays before I consider buying it though.
