C2077 Cyberpunk 2077 - News Roundup

Cyberpunk 2077
I presume the main reason is that the Corona situation in Europe delays production and delivery of the physical versions, and that they signed contracts that prevents releasing the game digital only.
So considering that some countries don't do enough to prevent the virus from spreading, another delay would be no surprise to me.

Translation : We bit off more than we can chew and spread ourselves thin trying to release on 9 platforms at one time, so we're going to push back the completed versions.

No-one raging? People, you are demonstrating impressive maturity! :p

Yup, it sucks, but we'll survive. Do you think it will be playable right on the release day (whenever that will be)? The Witcher 3 was, but this seems a more complex game. Perhaps worth waiting until 2021 anyway…

Oh, I raged. Quite a bit, when I was first blind-sided by the tweet. Just not here. Mostly not online at all.

The people who write things like "just delay it indefinitely CRPR, we can all wait!" probably irritate me as much as the delay itself. I'm super glad you don't really give a shit if the game comes out. At this point, I half wish I could slice out the part of my brain that cares about it.

But I'll live. I do not, however, have even an iota of faith that it won't just keep getting delayed. I really thought the 19th was solid. I thought that going gold, repeatedly telling people it was solid (even literally yesterday) and investing millions of dollars in advertising would have precluded another delay. I was wrong. So until it's actually on my machine, no date is apparently safe.

Ubisoft has to be doing cartwheels. I know I personally wasn't planning to get AC or Watch Dogs at launch, but that may well change now.

I'll say one more thing: they can take any future Night City Wires and shove them up their collective asses. I am done watching any more footage of a game that never actually comes out. No more drip feeds.

Wasn't there one more Night City Wires before it's release?

Nah, no need to excuse yourself. Many people, perhaps unconsciously, fight against the daily grind and depression by looking forward to something. When that thing gets delayed, disappointment is a natural reaction. I had arranged my life such that I would have a week to play the game 24/7 from the 19th of November. I cannot arrange my life to catch the new "release date" and will have to push playing the game to 2021.

Probably for the better as I smell the bugs even from here, which is pretty far away.

Disappointing but raging does not help. IMO that company should take a serious talk (and perhaps training) about setting release dates among the management and even then set an extra half year to any estimated date. I will avoid planning my life around their "release dates" from now on.

The rumors I have been seeing is its more to cash-in on the release of the new consoles, bundles, and the Xmas holiday more than anything else. I am not saying that - just what I have seen as a trend in various forums and discord talks.

Luckily this is a game I am not hyped about. I want to play but not in any rush. I would be disappointed if it was a game I was super hyped about, however, as I know how that feels.

I know you're not saying this, so keep in mind that my response is not directed at you.

This is idiotic. For the entire history of game releases, very little to nothing of significance has ever been released in December. The biggest games come out typically in October and November. To believe that releasing it in mid December is to take advantage of Xmas requires nothing less than to ignore the whole history of game releases.

And the consoles come out in early November. That also does not make sense. They would already have been available as of the Nov 19th date.

Cyberpunk 2077 May Have Been Delayed Due to Current-Gen Versions; Organizational Changes Are Expected for the Next Project

Link - https://wccftech.com/cyberpunk-2077-delay-current-gen/

Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed once again, and will now release on December 10th. CDPR official statement did not mention the exact reasons behind the delay, but it seems like the current-gen versions of the game are to blame.

Following the announcement of the delay, CD Projekt hosted a conference call with CEO Adam Kicinski, board member and CFO Piotr Nielubowicz and board member, SVP Business Development Michal Nowakowski, as reported by the Polish Press Agency, that revealed some more details on the delay. Apparently, the situation is different this time around, as the game is ready on PC and runs well on next-gen consoles. The team is "finalizing" the process concerning current gen-consoles, suggesting that it's these versions of the game that caused the delay.

During the conference call, it has also been suggested that organizational changes are on the horizon, following the Cyberpunk 2077 situation, as too many things were put together at late stages, according to CEO Adam Kicinski.

Recap of the conference call from yesterday.
Following are highlights from video games developer CD Projekt's conference call held after the company announced another delay of the premiere of its much-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 release, to December 10.

The teleconference was hosted by CEO Adam Kicinski, board member and CFO Piotr Nielubowicz and board member, SVP Business Development Michal Nowakowski.

NEW RELEASE DATE: "We are firm." - CEO Kicinski. "Realizing on November 19 is possible and was possible" but "having these three more weeks gives us a chance to fix this and that." "The decision was not easy but we know there is just one release and the first impression is crucial" so in the long-run the decision is beneficial. "Better initial reaction to the game always works in favor of more sales. That is why we are delaying, we don't have to but having this extra time gives us more certainty that everything will be in the game when we release."

ABOUT THE DELAY: "This situation is different" compared to previous changes to the deadline - the game for PC is ready and plays well on next-gen consoles and the company is finalizing the process concerning current gen consoles.

GAME ITSELF: "We are really sure we have something amazing in our hands" and once the game is released, "everyone will understand" why it was so difficult. "Don't get us wrong, we are kind of internally stressed on the one hand, but on the other we feel very strong about the game." and "We are super happy with what we will deliver."

2020 RECEIPTS: "The time for the game on the market [this year] is shorter, we will have smaller revenues but still comparable," Nielubowicz said, underlining that in the case of 'The Witcher 3" 90% of sales in the premiere quarter came in the first four weeks. "Pre-holiday period should also support sales on the market."

PRE-ORDERS: The ratio for pre-orders between 'The Witcher 3' and 'Cyberpunk 2077' at the same stage before the premiere "is continuously very satisfying." CD Projekt expects no major cancellations of pre-orders because of the delay.

AVERAGE SELLING PRICE: "We believe we are a premium title, we don't have to give any extra incentives."

(NO) CONTRACTUAL FINES: "there are no penalties we would be facing from any of our partners."

MARKETING COSTS: "We will have to reschedule the marketing campaign and such a rescheduling will most likely entail higher spending," Nielubowicz said, adding it's too soon to offer any exact cost. "There is gonna be some extra supporting budget for sure to account for the change," one of the officials also said.

FEEDBACK: Feedback "gives us a lot of confidence." Those who completed the game say they have never played a game like this before." - board member Nowakowski

IMPACT OF DELAY ON EXTENSIONS: "We expect no impact on extensions."

FUTURE PROJECT (IMPACT OF THE DELAY): CD Projekt plans some "organizational changes" in technical departments. "Too many things were put together at late stages." - CEO Kicinski

Thanks Couch, I appreciate you posting that. I refuse to get as emotionally wrapped up in this new release date as I was with the last one. I was far too angry about this for my own good. But at the same time, reading "We are firm." - CEO Kicinski. "Realizing on November 19 is possible and was possible" but "having these three more weeks gives us a chance to fix this and that" does make me feel better.

I don't have a PC that could run CP2077 well, and I won't have a new console at launch (I can afford one, but I wasn't planning to buy one right away and now I probably couldn't find one). I'm more tolerant than many about things like frame rate, but of course I don't want the game to play like ass. I'm hoping that the fact that I have the most powerful of the current console generation (the Xbox One X) will mean that it will run pretty well for me.

And vice president of business development Michal Nowakowski revealed the main reason for the latest transfer of Cyberpunk 2077: the developers want the action RPG to get on Metacritic 90 or higher, so they decided to polish the versions of the game for PS4 and Xbox One

Source - https://phonemantra.com/main-reason...punk-2077-to-score-at-least-90-on-metacritic/

We already knew that the delay was due to current-gen consoles but do they really value Metacritic scores that much? Fake news?
