Sorry I read "The Doritos Awards 2018" as "Doritosgate 2018."

Overview

Doritosgate was a controversional event aimed at gaming journalists and their notorious reputation with product advertising. The controversy was sparked by writer Rab Florence in an article posted on Eurogamer.net covering the shortcomings of video game journalism at the time and how he believed they were influenced by ad revenue.

Background

On October 24th, 2012, writer Rab Florence posted an article titled "Lost Humanity 18: A Table of Doritos"von Eurogamer.net. In the article, Florence comments on the state of gaming journalism due to his personal experiences with the Games Media Awards 2012 a week prior on October 18th and after seeing an image of Geoff Keighley surrounded by product placement (shown below) from that same date spread on the internet. In the article, Florence is especially critical towards gaming journalists and their relation with product advertising, specifically Doritos and Mountain Dew. The article was edited after its release by the Eurogamer staff due to a libel complaint, but an unedited version can still be found on NeoGAF.

Quoted from Wikipedia :

The term dorito is a contraction of Spanish doradito (little fried and golden thing), which is a diminutive of dorado (fried and golden thing).

These awards are the final opportunity for Bloodborne to be announced for PC, this year. I feel I have an obsession.

My crystal ball predicts Last of Us II will win big despite it's controversy's. Then again theses are mainstream awards so I doubt anyone cares except those in the industry.

DA4 should also be revealed again at the award show.

Yechh. Doritos - a nauseating corruption of tortilla chips. I love Mexican food - go for the traditional Mexican ones.

I never thought I'd like Doritos, until I had them with a cold Coke. Holy shit, the taste contrast.

I like an ice-cold Coke, but I always liked this Pepsi advert.

Funny you mention that as tortilla chips was the inspiration of Doritos. See once upon a time Mexican restaurants used to throw out a ton of stale tortilla chips.

So a man by the name of Arch West worked at Disneyland in a small restaurant called Casa de Fritos had the idea to use those stale chips and make something different.

So in 1966 he bought stale tortillas from a local vendor and added the cheese blend. The chips proved to be popular they were rolled out nationally by Frito-Lay.

The rest is history. It's still one of largest chip brands sold today.

I'm thinking that's still the procedure.

Who knows probably illegal nowadays. Those tortilla's always cut my mouth eating them. I should consider a class action lawsuit for those point edge's that poke the mouth.

Hey, Thrasher. Each to his own when it comes to fried treats.
