These games start to fascinate me because of the mixed feelings I have about Nier Automata. I also discovered drakengard (haven't played it) is of the same creative minds (Taro and Saito). Actually not sure if they worked together on all entries of the series but they have two titles in preparation (besides nier replicant):

In another thread on the watch Luckra probably summarised it well:

NieR (and the Drakengard series) are fantastic stories, world and characters with subpar gameplay and shitty graphics. Pairing the creative team with proven game developpers is a very good idea.

No thanks. I tried Nier Automata and bounced off hard. I think these games appeal to a very specific crowd, and I'm not in it.

Only a fool would pay $60 for what appears to be a hi-res remaster of a PS2 game.
I missed the original from a decade ago and have heard good things about it, but I'll wait for a steep sale… $20 seems about right.

Both deal with family but one adds dragons in the mix. Then I remember they are connected, and Neir is a spin-off. Though I have to say I prefer Drakengard.

Thanks Sprout, good to know. I might be interested at half price, but no more.

When I heard Nier Automata is a special kind of grid-o-rama where you need to plod through the whole game a dozen of times to receive a so called true ending, it ment goodbye from me.
Here's hope this new game won't follow that same formula.
