Default Blue screen when leaving water (bug making game unplayable)

August 21st, 2014, 23:34
I recently started a new save game on Xenus 2. Everythings been running fine up until now. I'm on the mission on the first island where you have to save some diver from a cave. So i swim to the cave entrance, go into the cave, this is where the bug started, when i come out of the water or go up for oxygen I just get a solid blue screen, but i can see again when i go back under water. Also i can still see menus and my inventory.

Latest Patch and latest Unofficial Patch 1.8.

I hope someone can help me out with this. Thanks in advance.

Water issues usually stem from Direct X issues or video cards drivers. I don't know the exact answer but have you updated directx and video card drivers recently?

I recently updated the AMD Catalyst control centre software, but that's it as far as i know.

Here's my PC specs anyway, although i played this game about a year ago with no problems.

- AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz
- AMD Radeon HD 7850 XFX Core 2GB
- 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
- Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Based on a Steam thread shared to here as well, related to the mission '1000 miles under the sea- rescue Xaviar', AMD users were claiming about an entire blue screen while being in the underwater cave. Below is my own experience when using 2011 AMD graphics and 2021 with nVidia. There is some truth in it that AMD graphics are more blurry but not all over the screen as reported so rather there is a wanted humid / misty environment but which is processed on a different way by the individual chips. Also sure to be important of having DX9 and latest drivers installed- just old news…

Don't know. I installed all the latest versions of drivers, both official and unofficial, when I had a Sapphire R9 270X 4 GB and an MSI Radeon R9 280 2 GB- in the cave here is such a blue screen with a sight, as in the first screenshot of this topic "Above water". And anti-aliasing was couldn't be set in the game. You put anti-aliasing 6X, exit the options window, go back to the window and see Anti-aliasing: NO. It is not set simply. On Nvidia, everything is put and displayed: both anti-aliasing and this cave.
That's why I had to sell Radeon… Or was it some kind of fake? The fact is that there was no display of any textures or shaders at all in any games! You set the parameters to the maximum, and visually it is displayed on the average as on Nvidia. Or even nothing at all. Not to mention anti-aliasing, which just isn't there. Although it is set there, again… Except for Xenus 2 and Precursors, of course.

From another RU page forged in 2010, appears to be nVidia set as AA is applied, very clear and hi-res textures but not colorful like with AMD chip, still impressive for this time.
Original size was 2 MB per shot, assuming this was not enhanced by a third party program, had to lessen the size for adding them here at all.
