Wasn't that a console game?

I see it's the 3rd edition of D&D though, that's strange.

Yes, and a 20-year old console game at that.

It was originally released for the PS2/Xbox in 2001. It was rereleased last summer on the newer consoles in 4K.

With what the consoles were back then, it can't be good. It's a wonder they bothered to implement any part of a D&D ruleset.

It seems the remake/remaster fashion is perhaps going a little too far.

Don't confuse these games with their isometric kin Redglyph. They are action RPGs that were made to cash in on the IP name by Interplay. Same with the Everquest versions.

Rules don't matter its just combat and missions. The Champion games were better.

All these games are similar and released for the PS2 in 2001-2003
  1. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
  2. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2
  3. Champions of Norrath
  4. Champions: Return to Arms
  5. Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

That's the impression I got from screenshot and skimming through the description. That's why I was surprised they mentioned the D&D 3rd edition. Maybe it's just the selection of races and classes, I'm not interested enough to verify.

Perhaps it has an appeal to people who played it back then.

Oddly enough, if the Champions of Norrath game ever comes to computers, I'll likely check it out. -p
