Dying Light 2 - Delayed to February 2022
January 10th, 2022, 20:28
If that's even close to being accurate, I won't be doing my usual completionist style playthrough with this one.
I can only imagine the amount of filler quests they've jammed in there to make it this bloated.

Well it was delayed for two years so they had plenty of time to pad the game length.

Here's something I had no idea about. Apparently Dying Light 2 has co-op? Did the original have it also? For some reason I never even entertained the thought of co-op in this game.
I hope they manage to have a succesful release, and as little issues and bugs as possible.

Who cares? They have the right to protect their game from piracy. Makes no difference for anyone who plays the game legally.

Yeah, I think Denuvo is to be expected at this point for most AAA releases. Personally, I've never had any issues with games that used it.

Reviews are indeed out, but those are system specs.
I got whiplash from seeing how poor the reviews are, particularly for the story elements. I had been getting more excited for the release over the past couple of days and my enthusiasm is considerably dimmed by the response. Of course I can make up my own mind, but with Horizon and Elden Ring coming in only a couple of weeks, I may postpone purchasing DL2.

I'm way behind schedule gaming-wise though, so I've decided to wait until after I finish Elex 2 before getting DL2. I'm also replaying DL1 right now, and I don't want to play both games back to back.

Fair enough to play DL for the gameplay, but it's absolutely the case that Techland made a big deal out of their increase emphasis on story stuff (writing, characters, c&c, etc) in the sequel. Even a lot of the otherwise positive reviews (though by no means all of them) say that the story/writing/characters aren't very good.
I don't ever not value the story in any game I play that has a story, so it's a disappointment to me if the story is not very good. But I'll be finding out for myself this weekend.

Also: I surely will buy DL2 sometime ahead but only on a discount

I recommend: Dying Light 2 - Stay Human (Review)
A more balanced and positive overall review. Still acknowledges the bugs and issues with the story apparently, but still comes away positive overall.

Dying Light has aged remarkably well. I think I'm enjoying this playthrough even more than my original. Can't wait to play 'The Following' since that will be new to me.
