Aye Lannister, I've watched three episodes of Vox Machina so far, and I'll be watching more. The humour is a bit weird and childish, yet the overall story is interesting and I'd like to see how it all ends.

I certainly enjoyed it so far. I would also add that it has "adult street language" though I expect that will not be a problem for most Watchers. Final 3 episodes of season 1 will be available on Friday. Amazon agreed to a second season back in 2019 but covid-19 delayed things. Did read, couple of weeks ago, that the 2nd season is in production.

No reason to wait tbh. Only the second half of season 4 (final season) hasn't been released yet, and that's expected to drop within the next few months.

I'm bouncing between some shows these days, re-watching Hannibal and enjoying the third series of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for the first time. These are two shows that know how to tell a coherent story and involve rich, exciting cast members. And regarding Mrs. Maisel, if they ever want to do a spin-off about the trials and tribulations of Shy/Reggie, I'd be all in for that! I could easily see a show featuring a lounge/concert perfoming ensemble like theirs, especially considering the time period that it is shot in.

Started watching The Magicians a while ago, currently in the last season. Really liked it, overall, although it wasn't what I expected after the very first episode. Still, quite unique. Probably needs several trigger warnings. My favorite character is Margo, she has such a fun, quirky way of talking.

Also, this was the first live action show I've seen where they use fingers and hand positioning to cast spells, like the hand sign jutsu in Naruto.

I enjoyed the Magicians series of books when I read them some years ago, yet couldn't get into the show at all. They changed some things that I thought were too important to be altered.

Last night I concluded my viewing of Reacher, all in all it was pretty good, certainly the best treatment this character has received to date on the silver screen. The ending was perfect, and I'll be curious to see what happens next, will they continue to mine the books for ideas or come up with something new? Either way, I'll be there to check it out.

I finished The Book of Boba Fett last night. Thankfully, it was only 7 episodes. I don't think I could have forced myself to watch any more.

Unless I hear that the next series is somehow vastly different, I'm officially closing the book on watching any further Star Wars shows on Disney+.

Yeah, the Star Trek universe and Star Wars one have one huge thing in common for me: they are both equally defunct, at least the current silver screen shows/films. I'm hoping some other company acquires both franchises at some point, until then I'll stick to books and fan versions, those at least are done by folks that love and respect the history of both universes.

I finished watching the third and likely final series of Mr. Inbetween last night. This series I found much darker than the previous two, which I sort of expected, considering what happened with Ray's brother during the last finale. Overall I think the series ends in an ok fashion, I would have preferred the villain Ray to have gotten his just deserts for his life style, and while that didn't happen, he lost so much that, well, I guess the message carried.

And after watching such a distasteful show, I always need something good to chase away the bad vibes, so Mrs. Maisel to the rescue! This show is a pure delight, I absolutely enjoy the time frame in which it takes place, and the characters actually seem real, compared to many others you see these days on the telly. I might plow straight into the fourth series once I complete the third!

Then I went looking for something to replace Voyager - which I greatly enjoyed watching a second time.

I didn't really find anything, so I started watching it again - for the third time

Oh man, you guys that can actually watch that Star Wars stuff from Disney are made of sterner grit than I. It' has literally come to this, for me: I'd rather go without franchises like Star Trek/Star Wars than watch what they've devolved into over in recent years. It's truly awful cinema/telly.

How many times can someone repeat the same thing?

I've also finally decided not to watch any more Mando/Boba. I consider it the worst of popcorn TV.

I only watched it because my brother raved about the deep-fake Luke stuff - so I had to check it out.

I have to admit that one aspect was very well done - but that's about the only good thing I have to say about Boba.

Mando was better, but still awful.

I've been watching old Trek series myself, I just wrapped up a full viewing of TNG, which is my first time watching it beginning to end. I must say I felt a bit… underwhelmed. I've always heard it herald as one of the best ST series, but it fell kinda short for me… There's just not enough character development, and I had hoped for more Borg (across the 7 seasons) but thought there was just too little of them and too many random, disconnected episodes.

Next up is DS9, which I have watched in full before (years ago), and remains my favorite Trek series, so I am really looking forward to it.

TNG was really a thing of its time for the most part.

It hasn't aged particularly well, though it's still - by far - my favorite.

But if you're looking for consistency of character development or a large story arc - it's definitely not the right show.

DS9 is better for that, certainly - even if I think Bab 5 is vastly superior in that particular way.

I'm a big fan of the episodic nature of TNG, though. I love the amount of unique sci-fi and philosophical musings that are possible in that format.

A lot of DS9 centers around the same kind of war/conflict that you'll find in many other shows - even non-science fiction shows.

While I appreciate good drama and conflict, I always felt the strength of Star Trek was its optimism and utopian ideals.

Oh, no doubt about that. Babylon 5 is awesome.
I still haven't watched the very last episode yet simply because I don't want it to end.

The very last episode is the single most touching episode in TV history. I say this without hyperbole.

Even The Inner Light from TNG can't make me cry on cue like that

Yes, I've heard that. I keep hearing it's either cancelled or delayed - but as of this moment, I think the plan is that it's still happening.

That said, a very disturbingly large segment of the original cast is no longer on this Earth. If you ever want to be depressed, you need but check out how many of them are dead.

So, it would most likely be with an entirely new cast (or mostly) - and I can't really see anything approach the quality of B5 happening in these modern times.

But you never know.

I love those three the best, of the Star Treks: the original series, Deep Space Nine, and the Next generation, pretty much in that order. The writing was fairly solid and consistent, something you do not see at all in the current Trek manifestations. When I do want to slip into that universe, those and the films are the way I do it, not the current Trek nonsense. And by films I mean the ones prior to 2009.

After coming home last night I finished series one of Hannibal, a show I've been re-watching for about three months. This first set of episodes really sets the tone well, with Graham locked up by the end and Hannibal being the observer, the conductor of so much chaos in death during this first series. I'll take a break for a few weeks or months, then move on to the second set!!

I fell into a re-watch of the Office UK. I started out watching it on Hulu but I got so annoyed by the overbearing censorship that I switched to a less legal way of viewing it. In the third episode, Lee and Dawn give Tim a giant plastic penis as a gag birthday present, and the pixelated the ever loving shit out of it like I was watching a Japanese porno. Ridiculous. There are scenes with near constant beeps. At the same time, there's a scene where Dawn and Tim are messing with Gareth with double entendres and that's entirely untouched despite being muchmore risque than anything they do bleep out. Puritanical AND brain dead.
