Alrik: there is a suggestions subforum at the Underdogs site, but her todo-list is very long. I'm not sure its the best place to host a game. If you want to spread it after hosting it elsewhere you could "advertise" (in a mature and civilized way so you wont be censored for spam) it in their reasonably active forum though.

No list of RPG mod resources is complete without the Infinity Engine modlist: http://modlist.pocketplane.net .

Can't believe you forgot the AGS website:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/
Lots of great free amateur adventure games there (and of course a great tool for creating them yourself
). Oh, and of course there is:
http://www.scummvm.org/
For playing all your old LucasArt games and others on modern systems! Has links to a few old games that have been made free by the developers, too! (Beneath A Steel Sky, Flight of the Amazon Queens)

For non-Hitch-Hikers :-)
It is a curious fact, and one to which no one knows quite how
much importance to attach, that something like 85\% of all known
worlds in the Galaxy, be they primitive or highly advanced, have
invented a drink called jynnan tonnyx, or gee-N'N-T'N-ix, or
jinond-o-nicks, or any one of a thousand or more variations on
the same phonetic theme. The drinks themselves are not the same,
and vary between the Sivolvian ''chinanto/mnigs'' which is ordinary
water server at slightly above room temperature, and the
Gagrakackan ''tzjin-anthony-ks'' which kills cows at a hundred
paces; and in fact the one common factor between all of them,
beyond the fact that the names sound the same, is that they were
all invented and named before the worlds concerned made contact
with any other worlds.

Yay! My 1st addition to this thread will be for the Yendorian Tales series of games.
Chapter 1 might be rough to get going in XP. Chapters 2 and 3 should work fine though.

Yendorian Tales Chapter 2 and 3 can best be described as Might and Magic 3-5 clones. The game looks and feels a lot like those games.

Ah. Another example of "how to exclude the world outside which doesn't use credit cards at all".

Star Control 2 (aka The Ur-Quan Masters) is freeware now. It's a lot like an old classic RPG called Planet's Edge, but with RPG elements sacrificed (and admittedly there weren't that many in PE) in favour of a great story.

One of the best free modules for Neverwinter Nights 1:
Darkness over Daggerford
http://nwn.bioware.com/players/profile_daggerford.html
developed by Ossian Studios.
I can recommend this game for Baldur's Gate fans. Combat is fair / sometimes easy.
Great Story with many twists and sidequests. Watch out for Eastereggs :-)

Ultima V - Lazarus
It's basically a remake of the old Ultima V built in the Dungeon Siege (1) engine. You must have Dungeon Siege installed to play the game.

Another game that I just thought about was Minions of Mirth. MoM is a single and somewhat MMORPG along the lines of Guild Wars. It was made by just two people primarily and then the community stepped in and start adding resources (quests, artwork, crafting, alchemy, etc). The game is like $30 to register but there is no monthly fee for playing. I haven't played this in about a year but it had quite a bit of content back then and was being updated constantly.

I can recommend both Laz and MoM as great, fun games. For Laz check out my review at the Dot, and I wrote an interview with the devs of MoM back there as well. I'm too lazy to look up the links!!

Pretty good action rpg. It was sold in 4 chapters, and I believe the first is free. A few features were cool. Worth checking out.
