Poison weapon

I got the poison weapon smithing skill, the poison alchemy skill, several bottles of poison and enough weapons. I tried the alchemist bench, the anvil and the wetstone but seem unable to poison my sword. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

just click the sword or the poison potion icon in the inventory I know it sounds strange but you don't need the alchemy bench for poisoning blade. Its only used for mixing potions/arrows.

It seems to be a pretty useless skill though. It doesnt seem to add to the damage of the weapon directly, and I've only managed to poison enemies after knocking them down first. And the poison is very slow…

It indeed hasn't worked out like it should have been. Maybe a new patch will make this thing better.

You'll have to do the stab attack to poison the enemy. It's use is limited because poison is weak, but it can give some advantage in those larger batles or against trolls..
