Looking for verdicts on Nick Perumovs books

The annual book sale is coming up and I figure that some of you guys could tell me whether "Diamond Sword, Wooden Sword" is worth getting:-) I enjoy some fantasy and SF (enjoyed Earthsea, Dune, the Shannara series) but the quality varies so much within the genre substantial part of the genre (for instance I loathe anything by suburbian David Eddings and find Feist somewhat lacking). It'd be helpful to get an idea of the tone of the books

I stayed silent--unusually so, for me
since the name rings no bells--but I don't read much in the genre anymore--my last fantasy authors were Terry Goodkind and Robert Jordan, and they sort of left me feeling meh about it. I still read a little Guy Gavriel Kay and Holly Lisle, but never heard of Mr. Perumov.

Apparently he is big in Russia and has only been on export for a few years. I was hoping that some of our central European posters would have come across him, but I guess they like me are situated a little to the west of his release regions
I'll take my chances and get the book anyway if the shop still has it in stock tomorrow.
EDIT: The issue became moot as the book was sold out. I got myself a summary of Stalin's Hitler file instead…
