Gothic 2: Issue with the Orc Colonel's Room
August 15th, 2008, 16:49
Well I am in Chapter 6 of G2 and I must say this RPG ranks in the top 3 of any I have played. It has been amazing and much more stable than G1 concerning game glitches.
I have begun explring the Island in Chap. 6. I have cleared out all Orcs, the Cave Troll, and I have talked to Pedro and escorted him back to the ship.
I have found the wall torches in the Orc Colonel's room and I have placed my character correctly so that he can "use" both torches. They make a sound indicating that I have moved them correctly -- but the wall will not move.
I have tried right-left, left-right but nothing. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Load a game before doing anything in the room, then try left-right. If that doesn't work, reload and try right-left. There has been a few issues in getting them to work after moving them the first time into wrong positions.
The event is not timed by the way, so once you move a lever it'll stay in a certain position.
Edit: And yes, I agree, it is an excellent game all in all!

In this case Maylander's sollution is the only one -> With a cheat you won't be able to get later on in the game.

You didn't do what Serpentes asked?! shame on you leaving pedro alive
Seriously though I had the same problem once..Seems that the trigger is not always working like it should..Loading an older save helped.

Sorry, guys, for such a late response. I was away for almost two weeks.
gaboru33, I chose mercenary and I really enjoyed it. Anyone know how different the Paladin path is? I ahve never been big on playing mage-type characters so if I ever do go back and play it would probably be to play a Paladin.
As for my game issue, I had to load a saved game just before I talked to Pedro. Then after escorting him back to the ship I went back to the Orc Colonel's room and did left-right and it worked.
I am really hoping the 4th offering of Gothic gets back to the superb story/plot/characterizations that G1 and G2 are so noted for.

Not very different in terms of story, but you get access to different weapon/armor/spells. The Paladin is, in my opinion, the most powerful class, since they are capable of healing themselves, and have access to some decent ranged spells as well. However, they generally have low mana (investing in too much mana is a waste of points), so you can't really use the offensive spells a whole lot. Useful from time to time though.

When you come to the island, there isn't any difference I think between any path you've chosen. One tip: In gothic 2 NotR I found the path of the magician the most challenging one. But after chapter 3 it's to easy to do with the magician.
