I played it yesterday until 3 in the morning to answer your question. Its got quite an addictive loop once you get used to what the game is throwing at you. It didn't take me 5 minutes to get to grips with it but I am a long way away from mastering it, in other words.

You use your squad and collect power and stuff for your mechs along the way. The pilots can gain experience too but max out at level 3. The actual tactical battles play out on an 8x8 grid with the next enemy turns attacks spelt out for you. This allows you to manipulate the enemy into attacking each other or more likely moving them away from attacking the power grid. No power grid its game over and you are whisked away to another timeline to try again with a pilot to bring along from the last timeline.

You are basically trying to take islands back from the enemy. There are four islands total with different biomes for each ie desert, grassy plains etc. It might be awhile until I manage to actually win a game.

Yeah, I got it.

As the old saying goes, "When the FTL guys spend 6 years making a game then release it for $20 you buy first and ask questions later." =)

Or watch streams to measure why they push so much their fame over the qualities of their product as marketing arguments.

Big words. Beside, this product is hardly a game. Witnessed a streamer wishing he could hop out grinding to unlock content, and this player makes a living off broadcasting vid products.

I bought it today and played for a couple of hours. Bloody brilliant and quite different from anything else I've played. I doubt I'll sink as much time into it as I did with FTL, but I've already gotten enough enjoyment to justify the price, everything going forward is a bonus.

It's more of a puzzle game though than anything else.
I played through it a couple of times.

Essentially you can see the enemy's attacks before they act, so your goal is to stop them from harming your infrastructure and mechs as much as possible. It's not easy, but in essence, it just requires some concentration.

I played it for 10 hours and I doubt I would play it again. The only things that add to replay-ability are:
1. The different squads to choose from who specialise in different ways to stop enemies.
2. The achievements that try to get you do win the game in a multitude of different ways.

However, for me, that's not enough.
