game of thornes

I've watched those four episodes yesterday in one sitting. I was thinking how this show became no more than average. And totally overrated. I'm thinking book readers aren't happy either. Acting is just mediocre, with lone peaks here and there. I must say I prefer Vikings at the moment. A lot more tension, authenticity and in my opinion better acting.

I don't find the acting mediocre. I think it's actually quite good compared to most of what's on mainstream television.

Here's what will happen (best guess):

Favored sarcastic and anachronistic dwarf won't die - and will likely save the world again, in some way. He's the embodiment of the author, after all.

Some of your favorite characters will die in shocking ways.

People will be very harsh and cruel to each other.

You will see lots of naked women and men.

You will see at least one superhero-level warrior that you haven't seen before - who's also really cool in some way.

At least one duel between established superhero-level warriors with an unexpected outcome.

Small segments of very expensive CGI - because they have the budget to do it, but not enough to do it well.

Nothing much will happen in terms of overall plot progression, assuming there is a plot.

….

There, you don't have to pirate it :)
And that's why the show is super awesome!

I am in the "first season great, subsequent seasons WTF" camp. I feel that he abandoned the idea of a driving plot, and it became a sort of gory, porny soap opera, never really going anywhere.

I've read all the books and I agree that that later ones never quite managed to grab my attention the same way. I think the TV adaptation is OK, but I still prefer the books and the world I created from them :) I must also confess to having forgotten bits of the story since its been awhile...

Like I said, based on the books, it's not going to get more interesting this season or next, except for a few things. His next book better be a doosey.

I also enjoy vikings. The thing that doesn't look good with me are the battles. It seems that the enemies of vikings lack the basic principles of battlefield(they are utterly stupid in other words). This without having any idea about the historic battles.

Well Vikings isn't really a historical TV show, it's period drama in a wider sense.

And you've seen how many shows like that?
Neither did I. Or people watching it exactly because it's different.

I refused to even start Vikings.
Apparently it's high quality show from a network that doesn't do scripted shows for living, but I just don't want to see stuff like Apocalypto that underestimates the subject.

What am I talking about? Well, for example this:

You won't see a thing like this in a tv show. It'd mean the subject, vikings, were even greater than history perceives.

I find Game of Thrones (the series, never read the books) somewhat entertaining. I received the first season on DVD for a past birthday but I never felt the urge to buy later seasons. I watch GoT on TV if an episode is on when I happen to zap to the channel, but only if none of my favorite series or movies are shown at the time. Vikings, on the other hand ... well, to be fair, I'm not a huge fan of the historical period and topic, but I gave the series a try because I like TV series in general and try to watch as many as possible (I stop watching most pretty soon, though). I found it utterly boring.

You'll love HBO's True Blood, then. The ultimate in soft-porn gory soap operas!

I did. But that show went drastically downhill after superb season 1 and still good season 2.
