Default RPGWatch @ Gamescom - The Surge 2 Preview

August 30th, 2018, 21:14
The Surge 2 is the successor to The Surge, an action-RPG where you could chop of parts from enemies for own usage. Deck13 explained at Gamescom about what they have changed in The Surge 2.

Deck 13 showed The Surge 2 at Gamescom. It was a hands-off demo where Adam Hetenyi, head of Game Design, talked us through the game. The Surge 2 is the successor to The Surge, which was released over a year ago. The Surge 2 is an action RPG, with a focus on melee combat, although there is some shooting as well. The games use a body part targeting system that allows the player to target a part of the body of the opponent, to separate that part from the body, so it can be harvested after the fight and used to enhance the equipment of the player.
The first game took place in an industrial facility, the second takes place in Jericho, a more urban environment, a few months after the ending of The Surge. Jericho has been quarantined and is considered to be very dangerous. A huge wall has been built around the city, so nothing can get in or out. In the sky above the city, a big mysterious storm is growing and monsters have taken over the city.
More information.

Probably Deck 13 intends to protect the investment of its investors by continuing the development of Surge 1 IP, which itself was a horrible useless junk, but a perfect burn of money. Are these totally useless games in reality Money Washing Operations in action????? Do you have any idea, from **where** Your Boss withdraws his money to pay you in the game industry?
And then we get blasted by paypal and banks for shackling us with crazy regulations with the invented reasons that terrorists are washing money??? WTF!?

Wish they went with different setting. Like a spaceship, playing Commander Jolly Rogers fighting against a mutiny of crazy robots. Still better than the last. Half of my student jobs include shoveling around crates in warehouses, don't need to see it a video game.

Still melee looks downright excellent, this could be one of the best third person hack &slash out there.

Definitely. This is the slickest combat I've ever seen.

How about all games have a single huge lootbox you pay for up front that contains all the options, items, skins, unlocks etc? I'd pay for that!!
