Games that shouldn't have stopped getting sequels

So, what games do you think really need more sequels?

I'm primarily talking about games that, for whatever reason, got one or more sequels - but then it stopped.

Here's a few of mine:

KotOR 2
Dead Space 3
Neverwinter Nights 2

King Arthur The Role Playing Wargame 2 (Geez, that name...)
Wizardry 8
Jagged Alliance 2 (Some have tried but none succeeded)

Honorable mentions: UFO 1 & 2. (3 wasn't that good in my opinion. The reboots while exellent games doesn't quite reach the level of awesomeness of the originals).

Gothic. I never understood why G3 got such a bad rap, but then I never played 1 or 2 .

Gothic. But for the sake of avoiding revisionist history: G3 was a certified disaster on release and the ‘true’ vs published system requirements for the PC’s out at the time we’re unreal. Even on top end systems it was unstable and performed poorly - let alone the massive bug list. I would say that G3’s disaster was on par with the Troika Temple of Elemental Evil release. Both studios Troika & PB did not survive their fiascos intact.

Hey @NewDArt;,

Can we include console games in your poll? :) If so, I'd include Suikoden and Rogue Galaxy (this one a good PS2 RPG, actually I never understood why Rogue Galaxy has no sequels).

For PC, there are a lot of gaming series worth a sequel:

-Wizardry
-Jagged Alliance
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
-Command & Conquer
-Warcraft (not the MMO, obviously)
-Knights of the Old Republic
-Baldur's Gate (a true sequel, I mean a true Baldur's Gate III)
-Neverwinter Nights
-Alpha Protocol
-Half-Life
-Vampire Bloodlines The Masquerade
-Twisting your poll a little: :p a true sequel to Fallout 2 in the likes of defunct Fallout Van Buren, isometric and such…

Wizardry- although technically they are still making them, just not in the US.
Kings bounty
Drakensang
Dark souls
Fear
Silent storm
Icewind dale
Baldurs gate
Gothics

I’m sure there’s more if I gave it more thought.

Somehow I forgot ultima’s

Legend of Grimrock!
Also agree with many of the suggestions above. I'd love to see a new might and magic.

Of course you can include anything you want ;)

Here's a few of mine:

KotOR 2
Dead Space 3
Neverwinter Nights 2

I immediately thought of Dead Space as soon as I saw the thread title. I'd love to see someone make a sequel worthy of the first two games.

I'd also really like to see Larian make a sequel to Dragon Knight Saga.

I also agree with almost everything on henriquejr's list. The only real exception being a Baldur's Gate III which I feel is completely unnecessary.

Hmm so name games that deserve sequels...

Alien vs. predator 2
Kotor 2 (Maybe there is still hope?)
Jedi Knight 2
Gothic 3 (A true sequel and not the crap which was labeled as gothic 4.)
Alpha protocol
Severance the blade of Darkness (this will never happen :()
Outcast (Maybe some day, there is still hope...)

Finally I really can't understand why on earth Valve decided to leave half-life 2 plot in such unfinished state in Episode 2. Releasing Episode 3 should have been a no-brainer as there was instant money just waiting to be collected (there still is!). Give your fans a closure damnit!

Hmm I'm usually not a fan of sequels (maybe because most of them disappointed me or because I liked the ending and didn't want the series to drag on).

But a few I can think of are:
Expeditions: Viking
Dragon Age: Origins (not DA2 or DA:I, a real sequel to DA:O)
TES: Skyrim with the ability to decorate the house in Morrowind fashion
Vampire Bloodlines: Masquerade
No One Lives Forever 3

Like JDR, I don't want BG3.

The Dark Heart of Uukrul
Battle Brothers
Eador: Genesis
Birthright Gorgon's Alliance
Temple of Elemental Evil
Dungeons and Dragons Online
Might and Magic
Gold Box Games

No one needs to list anymore :) I win

Er ???
King bounty is getting another sequel and how do you know that Battle Brothers won't be getting a sequel ?

They said sales didn't justify an expansion or mod tools. I don't have high hopes but I hope I'm wrong. For me Battle Brothers is almost a perfect game.

Since nobody mentions JRPGs:
- Suikoden
- Wild Arms
- Shadow Hearts
- Grandia
- Front Mission

Er ???
King bounty is getting another sequel

Do you have a source for that? I checked recently and couldn't find anything concrete.
