Just a tip for anyone still searching for the shy deer, they can be found as far away as Ardea.....
In a similar quest "Hunting the deer on the Plateau" you can sometimes find some deer down the bottom of the cliff so you have so search in a big circle around the plateau (a full 360 degree arc).
