Aubrielle found this:
Trend Micro is warning us to get rid of Quicktime if we've still got it. Apparently it's got critical vulnerabilities that hackers are exploiting, and those vulnerabilities aren't likely to be fixed since Apple has stopped updating it.

You'll play it nohow or will install virtual machine and play it in there.

Someone in comments on the article said:
"Go VLC or go home".

I couldn't phrase it better. There indeed are some good media players out there, but only VLC runs everything without needing codecs/codecpacks. Means, with it your PC will never ever end up in codec hell.

Sorry for not noticing Zloth's thread.

Too bad they aren't saying WHICH version of Quick Time is affected … I do wonder whether my Quick Time 2.1 player is affected as well ?

Third solution, of which almost naturally thinks of, simple because of The Internet being oh so much omnipresent :
Play it on an standalone PC with no connections at all (only mouse & keyboard).
