DSOGaming reports that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is being worked on by Aspyr.

In January 2020, we informed you about a rumored Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game. And yesterday, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier claimed that this KOTOR game is real, and is basically a remake of the first title.

As Schreier said, Aspyr is currently working on a remake of the first Star Wars KOTOR game. Aspyr ported a number of Star Wars games on various platforms, so this should surprise most of us.

I'm guessing he meant to say, "Aspyr ported a number of Star Wars games on various platforms, so this should [not] surprise most of us."

Kotor 1 should be a safe bet for a nice graphical update, but Kotor 2 has to have it's cut content restored, or else there won't be a reason to play the game at all.
The Telos restoration Team turned Kotor 2 into a much better game!

Keyword here is remake not remaster. It wont be the same with a new paint job at least.

I'm willing to wait and see what actually is produced, then render my judgement. And, of course, see what others make of the finished product.

Yeah, I don't see much downside to this, especially when it's a studio that specialises in conversions and remasters. So it's not as if a creative studio is retreading old ground instead of making something new, and if they do a decent job, I'd buy it.

By the way, good intuition, Couch :)
Well it was just a hunch but I await more information about the remake. It's obvious they will use a new engine as well, and my money is possibly on the Unreal Engine.

Some rumors going around claim it will be a pure Action RPG this time as well.

Huh? Isn't that exactly what they're doing though?

Yeah, what I'm getting at is that for Aspyr, doing remasters, remakes, and platform conversions is their bread and butter - not so much creating novel games. People often criticise remakes for keeping the studio responsible away from doing something new, which I think is a fair point. But if the job is farmed out to Aspyr, that doesn't seem a concern.

Ok, I see what you're saying. On the flip side though, I think it shows that EA has no interest in doing a new KotOR game which I think would have been more interesting.

Not that I trust EA to make a quality RPG regardless of which studio they have develop it.
