My dog is also much, much more important to me than most human beings. But that's an emotional reaction.
Intellectually, I've seen nothing from humans that make them appear more worthy to be alive or to be treated well in death than dogs. In fact, I tend to think dogs are less harmful and selfish.
When I look at my dog, I get a piercing sensation because he's so innocent, loving and jovial - and I crack a smile just like that. Something which I rarely experience with human beings, I have to say.
That said, I'm probably not going to arrange a funeral. I don't know how I will deal with putting him to sleep when that time comes either, because I don't think I could do it. I'll have to persuade someone to help me with that.
