Default What games are you playing now?

I still want to play Elex. I'm over 300 hours into an Orc Warden (Champion level 120) in ESO. I started a young Necromancer and I am also enjoying that class. Currently the game is stuck in a huge patch cycle so I'm breaking and playing Wizardry LoLS.

Tried to play Kingdom Come but my PC wasn't on board.

It seems to be a decent medieval simulator, but I can't really tell with my 20FPS ratio…

Oh well, back to Kenshi.

I'm still playing Civilization VI and til now sank 300 hours into it.
In another thread I mentioned the AI as a weak spot. Some weeks ago I started to use the Real Strategy (AI) mod. It got a lot better. However it's still not that intelligent.
I also bought the first expansion (Rise and Fall) for under 15€. It's definitly worth it.

If there was a "best computer game series ever" vote Civilization for me personally would be a tough contender for Baldur's Gate. The game's core mechanics imho are unmatched in the turn based strategy genre.

I sank countless hours into Civ1 & 2 and its scenarios. When C3 came out I immediately bought it but was disappointed in how they changed the game. Also couldn't get into C4 and never tried C5&6.

Yep, can completely understand. Personally never played 2 and 3 as far as I can remember, but Civ made a pretty clear cut after Civ 4, when the series got more of a "boardgame" character and less of a "simulation". Until 4 you had more of the feeling you would play an alternative (and weird) history of the real world, but after that the series became much more "gamey" and abstract. Not a bad thing in itself and it also had some advantages, but it's just not the same type of civ anymore. Maybe similar as old Railroad Tycoon vs new Railroads!-games or old XCom vs Firaxis XCom.
All less of a simulation anymore and more of a boardgame.

Well civ1 & 2 still are my fav games of all time. When scenario support in Civ2 FW was introduced the game just exploded and you had hundreds of scenarios available on Apolyton, Spanish civ2 site, etc. Each scenario was different and some were truly works of art. God knows how much time I wasted on that game. I was naively expecting Civ3 would be a better, upgraded version of C2. Meh… I think I uninstalled the game after 1 hour and just couldn't get into the sequels. I agree that the historical background and aspect that made earlier Civs unique is somewhat gone. Kinda like transformation from Diablo 1 to 3 where a gritty, dark game becomes a shiny clickfest for masses without any character.

The Witcher - Played it years ago for a bit but never finished it so I'm doing that now. I've never really thought of the setting/lore for the series to be all that interesting/compelling but I find myself enjoying the smaller character moments, like the philosophical discussion Geralt can have with Zoltan, and the party at Shani's etc.

Divinity: Original Sin - Definitely enjoying my time with it. I feel like I did something a bit out of sequence sometime after the tutorial but for the most part I'm quite liking the game and I find most of the writing to be quite charming.

Final Fantasy X - Never finished this one either and I finally got one of the copies I bought to work and I'm really loving it. The story/writing is just so good and the combat/overall gameplay has aged quite well. (Except for Blitzball. The controls for it are really not very good and it throws a lot at you with the tutorials that it expects you to remember without giving you much time to adjust, but that's just me.)

Endless Space - Great strategy game, though I've only played about three games and have to to try all of the factions (and I've yet to actually win a game). The tutorial wasn't quite as in-depth or as intuitive as I would have liked, and I felt it didn't describe certain aspects very well, or at all, so once I was able to figure them out and better understand them, I found myself starting to get into the flow of the game and have a better understanding of what to do on each turn and when to do them, slowly but surely.
