Like every year we will have in January 2018 a Game of the Year vote again. Also like every year, we ask you to help us with the lists. Although in previous years we did this in the General RPG section of the forum and that was apparently not seen by many of you. So, I now am doing it in this way.

We give you the unfiltered list of games that have been released in 2017 and the unfiltered list of games that are labeled to be released in 2018. Where unfiltered means straight from our database.

The list of released games in 2017 should be fairly accurate. The list for 2018 is as accurate as the average drunken dwarf throwing darts at a dart board.

So give us your feedback on games that should and should not be in these lists by replying in the comments section, where the first comment also provides both lists.

Get serious, the only relevant game is Grimoire!

Anyway, in 2017 IMO Styx: Shards of Darkness is not really RPG. Its stealth+environment puzzler+action with simplistic skill tree.
I don't see consoles exclusives Persona 5, some new Zelda Ubitower climber with cooking and HZD, aren't those supposed to be RPG?

2018 expected releases lacks of some jRPGs. No Ni Kuni 2 and Ys8 are not there for example, but I remember there were more announced ones.
There is a PC port not announced yet, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2, but it's supposed to be already finished just waiting for a release date when it'll have a chance to make most sales.

RPGWatch remains to be a PC centric site. Unless there is an editor willing to follow console only releases, they will not end up in the database and as such not on the list.

Sadly for me, you're already married. Life is unfair!

Okay, I'll try to remember more titles that were planned for 2018 on PC.
But I remembered some Stardew Valley clone did appear on PC in 2017, a couple of months ago, Rune Factory 5 or something. I don't remember it's exact title as it looked as Nintendo Gameboy crap.

Damn, that is a sad sad list of upcoming games. BattleTech is the only one I'm interested in and I doubt it's even accurate to call it an RPG.

Prey is the only game on the list that I finished. However, my personal goty would be 7 Days to Die. It's not an RPG though, but a zombie apocalypse/survival game.

Prey and Sin should be on the shortlist. I'd also vote for Dungeons of Chaos, but I'm almost the only one here who actually played it much ;) Oops, Elex too. Good game. I replayed Beserker-ville several times, though I rarely left that area.

Yes, it's a pretty sad list. Surely we are missing something? There doesn't seem to be many interesting games. :\

I'm pretty hyped for Kingdom Come and Vampyr, though.

Expeditions Vikings was the only '17 RPG I've played to completion. Played TToN only briefly. Not really interested in most of the others TBH so I guess Viking is my GOTY by default.

*sigh* only game on the list I’ve played is nioh. Only game I finished this year was Witcher 3.

Too many games and most are just too long for me. I don’t have the time and many games just have too much filler to keep me engaged in thier 100+ hour open world games.

I think in contrast to many of the other shorter lists above, which like to ignore indie games, this is a nice list which contains most games which had a significant audience. Total War would not be on my list though. I can't see calling it an rpg.

This year's GotY is an easy call for me: Original Sin 2. Next, Battle Brothers and Expeditions: Viking.

I'm looking forward to Vampyr, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and the first three on Daveyd's list, which should be added to the Watch's 2018 list.

Of what I played D:OS II is the clear winner. It's miles ahead actually!

In 2018 I hope to have good fun with Battletech and Kingmaker.

I will vote when the final list is compiled, but remembering last year's outcome I don't have high hopes it will reflect my tastes. It seems we have A LOT of JRPG and shooter/action game fans in the woodworks.
