In the end, the planet will endure. We'll be the ones that go extinct, as many other species have. At least that's the way it should all play out.

And gosh yes, we've certainly snuffed out a swath of animals on our path to our own eventual destruction. For that alone, we've forfeited any right we ever might have had to this glorious planet. With any luck, the next dominant species will be a tad bit wiser than we proved to be.

Don't worry Carnifex none of us will be alive when that happens.

Seriously that type of scenario is still a few hundred years away. Anyway one thing you can learn from history is mankind is stubborn, and always finds a way to survive.

As for the moon yeah I was reading about that earlier this week. I read another article about the sun cooling down and solar flares should stop for a while. A mixed bag.

What I'm wondering is why Musk, Bezos & Co. aren't jumping at the chance to become saviours of humanity by building a space sunshade (also, think of the supervillain potential of controlling such a structure!).

I'm not sure I want to invest so much time on that. Also, books that argue either way are mostly a series of arguments and graphs that are hard to verify, so it would require to dig. As I said, I believe we play a role in what's happening and even if it wasn't the case, I'm convinced we need to change, so I don't feel the need to put that as a priority.

Who said those were random people? I think in one case it was Istvan Marko, and Pascal van Ypersele used his position at the university to intervene and cancel the whole discussion. He could have participated and given his point of view instead.

Universities are the good place for these meetings, it's how you make progress, banning specialists from open discussions and forcing a one-way discourse is usually not how we do things here

Well, maybe Bezos will do as usual and simply keep an emergency medical team outside of his building in case employees collapse under heat and strain. More efficient

I'm not worried at all, honestly. In my youth I was a real shite, yet I feel my karma is in a good place these days. Fear is the mind killer, after all, I try to live in a world of peace and harmony. Mostly on my porch.
