This weeks episode of Gametrailers TV has a more in-depth coverage of AP with plenty of gameplay footage and interviews with the developers at Obsidian. Enjoy.

Hmm, after watching the whole thing I'm kinda excited about it. Sounds pretty cool and has loads of potential. I just hope the story succeeds and it's not just some over-the-top terrorist plot. I'm hoping for something realistic and deep with real-world consequences.

And I don't know what gives, but if they are using the Unreal Engine 3.0 why does it look that bad? Honestly, some scenes were nice, but most just seem bland and boring as hell. Gears of War looked amazing. So did Mass Effect. So what gives?

Michael Thorton (or however you write it) also look terribly generic and his voice doesn't impress. I hope it's just a first impression.

As for gameworld design/art I thought Rome-looks good ruins etc., Taipei looks good lots of oriental architecture, Saudi Arabia-reminds me of scenes in Casino Royale, and I didn't see which scenes were Moscow. They were nothing exceptional but certainly on par with other modern day vistas in games.

There was footage shown of Thornton sneaking in the dark on a rooftop (alternate stealth solution path), then sniping a guard from a distance on the roof, as well as sneak up stealth kills.

Chris Parker talked about EMP grenades to take out electronic devices/cameras, noisemakers to distract guards ala THIEF, and you can place traps, this sounds good.

Also there seems to be some platforming which reminded me of Indy Jones or Prince of Persia that was shown.

There definitely seems to be several types of gameplay, add to that hopefully multiple solution paths (most important for me) like stealth, hacking, diplomacy OR combat, and some choice and consequences and we have I hope something between Deus Ex 2 on the low side (but it will have to be better then that) and Deus Ex 1 on the high side. We haven't seen any more of the diplomacy/dialogue gameplay, but they mentioned charm aspects of James Bond so that could be an interesting gameplay variant.

The only thing missing from the skill list is a dialogue skill, so it seems that that will be all based on player choice, hopefully something will add bonuses or subtrat from it.

Chris Rucinski in the Qore footage mentioned that Chris Avellone had to write three different versions of all of the dialogue which makes me think they definitely have spent some time and work in the dialogue so it appears that it will be better then Mass Effect's. It might even have branching results and some C&C.

Chris Avellone in the Qoref ootage also mentioned that choosing technician skill upgrades and gameplay style opens up new dialogue options=exclusive skill based content, always a good thing.
After all one of the pitches stated "The first modern day spy RPG" on the trailer. Now just don't lose sight of that goal!
