I listened to two albums today, both by King Crimson: The Court of the Crimson King, and the Poseidon album. Dear god, these guys created some awesome music that stands the test of time.
While putting together a retrospective album of The Kinks for a friend I came to the conclusion that this band deserves to be a bit better known/ more listened to than I think it currently is :
Sunny Afternoon (Face to Face; 1966):
Death of a Clown (Something Else; 1967):
Waterloo Sunset (Something Else; 1967):
Berkeley Mews ("Lola" single B-side; 1970):
This Time Tomorrow (Lola versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One; 1970):
^Melancholy at its breeziest , really love this one.
A new discovery for me. Indie pop group Shout Out Louds from Sweden. But the chord changes reminds me of early 4AD Xymox, and it has the ringing guitar arpeggios of dream pop / shoegaze without the noise plus more melody.
