AC Odyssey tips, hints and impressions

You mean bi. :p
Bioware's "romances" are an illusion of a 12 year old girl on how those work. Ubi definetly did a better job here.

You're correct. Each legendary weapon unlocks a legendary engraving. And there are tons of those. Different ones. Some you'll find through main story quests, some through sidequests, some by exploring random locations unrelated to any quests - Poseidon's Trident for example, some from arena, some by defeating a merc. So if you spot a mercenary that carries a gold item, once you level up enough, go for it!
I wish I noted where I got those that weren't quest based. :(

Yes true bi since I banged all other willing females too! In someway I like how "romances" are done here. In Bioware's games romances are a min game, you have to say the right thing but in Odyssey they just bang you if they like the look of you!

Apparently, that was how it actually worked in ancient Greece. Can't find any logic against it - constant wars, everyone dies, you never know when will it be your last time so… Enjoy the moment.
Sadly, capitalism tought us to care only about money so today all our options are paying for a whore or porn sites. Unless in relationship already, but that's not enough for some.

That's makes me laugh everybody bangs everyone.

The polite way to say it is they all loved sex.

That always leads to more constant wars, everyone dies of course. Look at the Trojan War for an example. All over a blond haired tart who eloped with another nations prince.

One thing I forgot to note in recent post with a pic.
If you play female hero, the set is called Amazon, male hero gets Achilles set with same bonuses. So it's the same thing, just a different set name.
Apart from +2% lifesteal for equiping all 5 parts, bonuses for each item (without engraving) are:
Head: +15% warrior damage, +25% crit damage
Arms: +15% warrior damage, +15% adrenaline per hit
Torso: +15% warrior damage, +10% health
Waist: +15% warrior damage, +5% crit chance
Legs: +15% warrior damage, +5% all damage
This doesn't mean it's the best ever legendary set. Depends on your preferences and overall build. For example in my case of fire damage Agamemnon set is more fruitful all I need is to engrave lifesteal or chance to revive on torso (can't have both this way):
Boots: +11% Warrior Damage, +12% Fire Damage
Gauntlets: +11% Warrior Damage, +15% Elemental Buildup
Waistband: +13% Warrior Damage, +4% Seconds Fire Duration
Helmet: +15% Warrior Damage, +20% Fire Damage
Armor: +15% Warrior Damage, +5 Seconds Burning Duration

It's basically ancient nude paintings and writings.;)

So yeah your companies firewall blocked it.

Those philistines hate art.

As for Blonde the internet and ancient paintings say so. Though you can find a various few other drawings that have her hair the color or auburn, Black , or some other shade.

Really? I don't know single Greek person with blonde hair. Unless she is not supposed to be Greek…. Or this could be the case of Jesus's painting....

Good question she might have been a foreigner or her ancestors. Just look at Aphrodite the Greek goddess of love she is usually shown as having blonde hair also.

Well as I say never trust ancient history to be 100 percent correct.

Tip - you can actually use the mercenaries who hunt you to fight other monsters etc. Its good way to take on some legendary creatures!

Finished. Numerous question marks are left on the map undiscovered, dunno if I'll go clearing them. Probably will to get some more ability points from tombs or something. Not sure.
All sidequests done except two questchains of getting 5*3=15 seals from each of two factions. Probably will finish those too as it's easy really, but is grindy and I don't like when something in a game is designed to to be a second workplace.

Last tip as there are three branching main stories you're following. Do the family/Deimos and Cult quests first, seal the underwater "temple" last. Even if you got all 4 relics needed for "the temple", don't use them before ending the other two mainquest branches.
You won't ruin anything if you do it in a different order, it'll just feel somewhat disconnected. At least was to me.

How many hours did that took you?

112.
Note that it should be normally less than this assuming you're not clearing all map question marks, just some. I did "waste time" on many pretty irrelevant engimata searching for a place where those are (I think it took me half an hour for the one pointed at by fingers of a statue earlygame) and didn't solve them all as legendary engravings are just better. Well, could complete them too, it's not grind but puzzles of which most are easy.
Also I replayed that certain island a few times so that would mean a few hours less normally.
One more thing, some forts I've completely cleared of soldiers. Some I'd just do required stuff - pop in, kill only captains, burn war crates, loot all chests, free prisoners then escape and leave nontasked trashmobs alive.

My best guess is that grindavoiding playthrough with no "state" or island retries, completing all normal sidequests (no radiant ones!) and only tombs you notice during those would last cca 100 hours.
Probably because I didn't go "every nook and cranny", I don't feel exhausted thus I'm saying I'll maybe go clear those question marks. Which will now be even easier as per game finish I got legendary engraving +10% to all damage, probably won't bother with stealth at all. :D

Once this hits a $30 price tag I'm going to pick it up. I don't see paying $60 for a game that gets churned out yearly.

You'll love it's survival parts! Assuming you don't refuse foursome at certain point…

EDIT:
Sorry, it was 116 hours, not 112:

As you can spot there I found tons of legendary items, but I don't have all sets completed. Because some of those are on question mark points of interest… Which I didn't clear all.

This is how my "journal" looks now, only two proper sidequests remain:

As proof that I didn't lose time on stupid radiant garbage, here's my achievements list. As you can notice there, I didn't get "in training" given for wasting time on that rubbish.

Some additional screenshots.

My midgame potential lieutenants. All legendary and all recruited for free. Yet Ubisoft is selling some mediocre ones for real $ separately.:

Bethesda's Skyrim clone halfdug bug (I dare to believe it's an easter egg!):

Ubisoft speaking about themselves and their past titles but also about EA, Warner, Konami and all those quantity over quality publishers:

My little pony is not behind microtransactions paywall, probably to avoid sjw furies:

Selling bullshit in history had another meaning:

The king from this ostraka is Arthur ofc, the puzzle solution is at awsome spot but sadly, unlocked engraving ain't that good:

A loadscreen tip from nightmares. LT to you too, pal.:

Loadscreens? How about INGAME "tip" to go grind idiocy? Can I please just disable this enema:

A few other loadscreen tips I saved for "finished" thread. Need them to explain myself there. Tomorrow. ;)

Well after I continued (the grind), realized I forgot to add something.
I did post a tip to use predator shot on leaders (with stunning arrows if gold so you can recruit). I mean not only it's devastating damage, you also won't be seen and then accused of a murder and get instantly 3 bounty hunters.

But later when your ship crew is 4 lieutenants with +15% arrows damage each… Who needs more leaders? Kill em all! :D
No more predator shot. Use the explosive arrow (second from the top hunter skills) which will instakill leader and his bodyguards. ;)

Should you be a bloodthirsty maniac? Dunno, but all leaders are evil and corrupted so you're doing nothing wrong and besides killing leaders boosts +% to all damage engraving.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

A bug that is de facto a feature as it saved one man's walet:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/812140/discussions/0/1732090362045440706/
While fighting two Mercenaries the Orichalcum vendor was killed. My question is will he ever respawn?
No he won't respawn. Hopefully there will be a mod with him removed from the game as Ubisoft will definetly patch him to be unkillable. He's part of the scammy microtransactions, yes.

Some facts about Taming animals skill. Not only it sounds fun, it's potentially useful besides why you wouldn't have an animal sidekick, plenty of other mercenaries do. Well…
- tamed animals randomly become untamed or wander off
- if wandered off you can't tame another till it becomes untamed
- upon boarding your ship a tamed animal becomes untamed
- unlike summoned lieutenants who will only be KOed and not dead, tamed animals can die
- lynx and leopard are good and won't die easily, everything else sadly will

Now I'm unsure if the whole thing is just severely bugged or is deliberately designed in ways I've described above, but I did saw Ubisoft rep asking people on steam forum to post details on problems with tamed animals so maybe they just left it halfbaked.

A cool thing, I was hiding in a bush and aiming a fire arrow at fort leader. I took my time with the aim so after a while the bush caught fire and then I in turn caught fire from the bush :) Cool attention to detail.

I was reading reviews on AC origin (since it was on sale) and it seems the biggest common complaint is that the game sucks up all processing power and create issues (people don't know why but they suspect drm). Does this game have the same issue ?

I have i5 4570K CPU and AC origin and odyssey runs 95% to 100% on all 4 cores. But this is like 4 or 5 year old CPU now. I have 1080 Ti to go with it and I am running ultrawide at 3440 x 1440 with max setting (only turned down volumetric clouds to medium) and I can get 50 - 80 FPS. So if you are playing at 1080p you won't have any issues with decent CPU and GPU. The low FPS take place in cities with lots of NPC walking around.

It has never created any issues for me. Last night I did 5 hour marathon of odyssey and not a single crash :p

Note that although it run CPU busy, I have not seen CPU temps go up more than 50C.

Note that this game benefits from multi cores so you will get better numbers on i7 etc.

The thing you have to remember is that these games run on xbox and still looks good...
