A new video for Age of Wonders: Planetfall looks at the Vanguard faction.

Planetfall takes the fantasy series into the realms of science fiction, adding new ideas to the mix of empire building and turn-based tactical combat. Emerging from the ruins of a fallen galactic empire, you’re looking to ascend to rule the galaxy once more, whether playing through a single player campaign, on randomised maps or against friends in multiplayer.

I hope they try to carefully enhance / modify the gameplay. Otherwise it is always the same game with new graphics / settings.
I liked most of the changes they did with Endless Legend for example.

I hope that too. From what I've seen so far, it looks like a total conversion mod. I didn't spot anything new gameplay wise.

I suppose you can imagine you're RP-ing the head of a futuristic science-fiction based civilization….but generally TBS games are not RPGs…

That said, I have the original AoW game boxes on my shelf and enjoyed AoW III.

RP in the sense that you have a hero that can level up... And quests i guess..

I would consider AoW to be at least borderline RPG, just like the Homm series.
