SpellForce 2: FiD - May Release

Having been a fan of Shadow Wars as well as a decent RTS'er if I do say so myself, I think where the no active pause decision falls down is that, as we all know, the game was not pure RTS where it's commonplace and folks have learned how to deal with it. Adding the RPG half of the hybrid just makes it too much to manage. You've got a large party of characters (what was the max? 6? 7 including a follower or two?) with all their skills and equipment to manage on top of the army and your econ. It's just too much, and not having an active pause leads to too much frustration. Can't tell you how many times I had to select all and right click to the other side of the map to extract myself from a losing battle before everyone died. A creative solution would have been to at least allow orders and interaction with your heroes during pause. With that feature, I would have been able to manage my way through probably half those battles without needing to mass-retreat, regroup, and come back.
