I’m not playing E2 yet but from what I have read at World of ELEX, yes, there are ELEX potions again but they have been slightly nerfed. They only award a single point now and you can only buy ELEX from one merchant in the game. The inventory of that merchant respawns 30 ELEX every 24h so it would be quite a grind to use this method.
I'm a bit of an explorer which is why I love open world games so was able to make so many large potions.

About Elex at merchants, I did not buy a single one yet ended up having almost 100 all attributes.
Many trashmobs drop elex (or it's purple version) so by the end of the game you will swim in it.
Why? Because for whatever reason trashmobs respawn!!!
Whoever in PB decided to do it in newer games (Gothic didn't have it), should be sacked and take a job at Bethesda.
For those who still think it's a good idea to buy it and not loot, the trader who sells 32 elex daily is a travelling merchant.

oh damn. Please don't tell me elex potions are a thing again. Is there still infinite natural elex in stores?
If you explore. If you are a reviewer interested only in the main questline, wrong game pal!
To cook +1 specific attribute pot which is very handy past 60 in an attribute (cost 5 points), you need hearts from trolls, cyclops and behemoths.
Now I have seen behemoths respawn, but not trolls or cyclops. At least that they did things partially right (no respawn of everything).

Having said that you could specialise in one area but you will probably end up with a load of unused LP's.
Not a bad thing though, melee saves you cash (ammo) and some trashmobs are trivial while attacked from distance.
A huge spoiler and hint:
Spoiler
Note that the best weapon is a shotgun, but you won't be getting the best one earlygame (and I won't spoil where to find it just will hint you need to almost max your jetpack).
Instead, check what attribute is required to use shotguns. Jack of all trades seems to be planned by design.

Yes, it's an option on the attribute screen, R or F. Easy to miss mind![]()
I also just realized I can kick (or shield bash) by hitting "E". Only took me 20 hours of playing to figure that out. Maybe I should have looked at the controls sooner.

Didn't know about shield bash, but my shield keeps getting unequiped for some reason.
Also took me ages to work out the weapon upgrade process but once I did I found that was close to OP as well.
Finally, a quick annoyance. The quests don't link and sometimes if you complete one stage of a quest you have to select it again for guidance. Might not bother some but having spent time on ESO it was noticeable as that is bad the other way round. On ESO a new quest is selected automatically which is annoying when you are in the middle of another one.

The shield counts as a separate slot from your melee weapon, so you have to hit that hotkey as well or use the weapon wheel to re-equip it after going to ranged. That threw me off at first.

If you're not using a shield, listen out for the sound effect that tells you you've timed a successful parry with a sword. Your next blow after that will knock the enemy over. Then your strong attack against an enemy on the ground does extra damage. The backstab is also a high damage attack.
None of that was explained super well

Yes, works on monsters too. Not sure about really big ones
Also works against flying creatures when they dive.
I think I noticed your kick does work on big monsters too

Just worked out how to add retrorockets to the jet pack, V from the jet pack table. Not sure how useful that will be though.

I'm finding parrying too difficult to time against monsters. Having a shield equipped seems more useful.

Retrorockets probably did save my life a few times :-)

So I nearly fully upgraded my Jetpack (only fuel is not maxed out).
Shouldn't I know be able to use my weapon in flight or at least when levitating?
I mainly fight with the flaming bow, but I can't find a way to equip it when flying.
