This is my take/idea on the chalices and at the moment it remains open until proved otherwise.
When putting the twelve chalices on the pedastals and they are then consecrated/blessed or whatever, as you probably know the one on the left nearest to and facing the Innos statue doesn't have a caption as the others have - it's an 'odd-man-out' chalice, it doesn't say "blessed" chalice and therefore the last paladin you offer it to will *not* be able to recieve a "blessed chalice"
Also we know having 11 chalices will not enable the sequence but nothing suggests that *if* having 13, only then will the correct 12 will then be blessed - and one over obviously (maybe even cursed - and why not if it cannot be blessed!)......just a tiny idea and not to be fully dismissed just yet.
