Default Realms Beyond - A Turn-based RPG

December 22nd, 2017, 00:42
As I see it the only similarity about the Gnolls and the Ratman is the posture, which is kinda standard for these kind of fantasy creatures. Other than that, no idea what Fluent is talking about…

Still very looking forward to this. I will not get too excited yet, since 2019 is a bit far off.

If there is an EA, KS or RPG Watch fundraiser I'm in.

Just because Fluent is suspicious doesn't make it a witch hunt.
Give him some credit. Hes uncovered that single scammer group a few times under different guises.

If everything is on the up & up then its all good.
If not, forewarned is forearmed? (I think thats the english expression)

And lets be real, if this guy has a connection (or staff member) to RPG Codex, they are used to MUCH MUCH worse conversations, inquisitions, trash talk, trolling, and other general BS-ery.

I think HobGoblin will survive

How about all games have a single huge lootbox you pay for up front that contains all the options, items, skins, unlocks etc? I'd pay for that!!

Ohhhh… looking at the developer profiles on the offical forums reveals some "hidden" posts: https://www.realms-beyond.com/forum/…=showposts;u=1

Which leads to these hidden subforums:

https://www.realms-beyond.com/forum/…php?board=43.0
https://www.realms-beyond.com/forum/…php?board=40.0

The second one doesn't have any interesting content, but the first one is full of quest descriptions:
Spoiler

And a "master list": https://www.realms-beyond.com/forum/…php?topic=15.0
Spoiler

Cool stuff

Gnolls are gnolls, for example this is what gnolls look like in Forgotten Realm, did they steal someone's work?

Gnolls are gnolls.

But don't say so in mixed company. They're also prone to hubris and violence.

What about FIG? They put more effort into marketing games being crowdfunded on their platform?

Good suggestion. Added the spoiler tags for Ploppy.
I hope nobody will be disappointed though if something is not going to make it in the final game

FIG already promotes RPG behemoths such as Wasteland 3 and PoE II. Those games are obviously a complete other league than our humble niche project.

Beside that, we don't want get somehow linked to random investors again. Our experience with publisher/investors related to Chaos Chronicles isn't quite good and when we started Realms Beyond, we swore to stay fully independent whatever it costs.

Those boards where hidden for a reason!

But however, I should have given more attention to the system that handles user rights in our forum software.

Not sure yet, refunds at Steam and GOG render trial versions obsolete and 2 hours playtime should be enough to get an impression.

A demo as part of a crowdfunding campaign?
That's a two-edged sword, but could be a surplus if you keep it simple (small locations, 1-2 combats, fin). Not sure how much polishing you'll need to convince people of the final quality. We'll see.

I agree with him on this tho. This game checked all my happy boxes this morning. Nice surprise. I'd buy it just because they are doing a decent job of trying (so far).

@HobGoblin42, are you already sure about the camera angle or is it still open for change?
For my taste it's a little to steep… I think. Somehow I'm not comfortable with it.

A very good news, "knowing" (or at least seeing) what happened between Coreplay & bitComposer.
It sounds like you managed to raise again. Maybe Grimlore Games helped a bit (though I can't see how)?
Now, does the entire former band from Coreplay joined Ceres Game?Probably not, but I'm curious to see in which proportion it could be the case.

And, is it too early to ask for a boxed edition? But when it will be time, count on me to be part of those who ask for such thing.
And of course, about localization, English & German seems to be confirmed (I don't see how it could be different), but what about other languages?

Whoa… the forums admin "Dragon" has a link "visit my blog" in his profile (link) which links to the personal site of Guido Henkel, who's famous for working on Planescape Torment.

Now I wonder if Chris Avellone is involved

Well spotted! Now does that mean that Guido is involved in this project?

Sounds great. Will likely back a crowdfunding campaign if there is one.
