ACG is pretty good at reviewing, so he seems to like it, except for technical glitches and limitations.

His recommendation was: Wait for a sale.
His comments about the game are very similar to @booboo; 's.
I've followed Frogwares since the beginning, played a lot of the early titles and, for me, it was always a case of enjoying them until I didn't and I never completed one of their games. Quite a strange and unusual situation, liking the idea of the game but always getting turned off by the sheer chunkiness to the point of quitting, but more from disappointed rolled eyes than rage.
Since then I found a Youtuber who specialises in Frogwares titles, and who also specialises in Cthulu (Frogwares have been teasing Chtulu in most of their games for years and have already made a fully Cthulu themed game called Magrunner, which I bet barely anyone here has even heard of?), and I've found that I can enjoy watching him play them all so I can get the sense of joy their games give without the torment of actually having to play them.
And this game looks to me like classic Frogwares. The extent you like it will probably rely more on your ability to enjoy Frogware games than your love of Cthulu. It looks like another fun game imprisoned in a frustratingly awkward, semi-soulless adventure that one would buy, in the olden days, as a deep sale curiosity. The little things you take for granted in most other games will be noticeably absent.
As for supporting them in the hope that they'll one day make a good game, they kinda already did with Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments in 2014, a game which finally seemed like they'd found a way to make what they do mass appealing and non-janky. Unfortunately, the follow-up showed this to be a false hope and they completely failed to build upon their success nor seem to get what it was that made C&P more popular than their other games.
There'll be enjoyment to have, but it will come with many little niggles dragging you down the more you play.
