Caribbean! - Interview @ RPS

this sounds interesting, ive always been intrigued by the pirate theme, but have never fully indulged it. The only pirate-themed game that I've played was Sid Meir's "Pirates" (the newer one) and really enjoyed it, tho I always wished there was more to it at the end of the day. A sandbox pirate game sounds like a dream come true. And the screenshots look awesome….

Was "Sea Dogs" any good? I always wanted to check that one out.

As I recall, it was buggy as hell but decent at its core. If memory serves, the series stumbled along as Age of Pirates, ending here:

It's been along time, but I believe I rather enjoyed City of Abandoned Ships. It also was quite buggy, but much better when modded. It's been so long I'm not sure, but I think this was the mod I used. Fixed lots of things and added historical playable characters, as well as silly movie ones:

Modded, and with some patience, I rather enjoyed City of Abandoned Ships.

I still have the original Sea dogs. I'll have to check the game and the mod. Thanks.

I do not require story in my games. I prefer to make my own as I go. This was one of the aspects I very much enjoyed about M&B.

Misleading as M&B is great for story telling and therefore comes with a story.

Imo, better to distinguish between games that come with an author written story and games wich player narrated stories.

Both types of games have stories in the end, and it is diminishing for games like M&B to introduce them as having no story. Because they often tell a story the best way a computer game can.

If properly done I think this could be great. I've always wanted a deeper and a bit more serious Pirates! (also a great game). And no one really cared for the story in that one right?

M&B (the series)is supposed to accomodate port-cities. With that title, they might get enough experience to integrate ports and naval warfare in M&B2.

Pirates!, in a similar way, allows a player narrated story. So it has stories in it.

Again, games provide various paths to story telling. And ultimately, these kinds of game have a story in them, the best kind a video game can deliver.

Caribbean Early Access is now available for 15€:

In case anyone here is actually interested into that stuff…
As I've mentioned I'd rather be tortured by Sea Dogs bugs where I can enjoy the real story.
