- FHD (1080p)
- 24inch
- 1ms GTG response
- gsync supported

Someone will say, so what, there's already good old and dirt cheap VG248QE.

Well, this new monitor that should see stores early next year allows 240Hz refresh rate.

Seriously ASUS? Who needs this thing? 144Hz was damned enough even for the fastest existing shooter, this here is ridiculous (unless someone claims their eye can spot the difference past 144Hz, oh hi Clark Kent).

I suppose it would support 3DVision and similar at 120Hz in stead of 60Hz? (Assuming that GPUs can support it).

pibbur who uses 3DVision in games that handles it well (Like LOTRO), and who thinks it adds something to the experience, worth the cost. Besides he believes he looks extremely good wearing those glasses.

Mentioned VG248 monitor, never turned 3Dvision on (it's capable of it, I just don't care, perhaps should say hate it because when going to cinema I avoid 3D projections) but for all I know it shouldn't cap it to 60Hz:

Are you perhaps using HDMI cable? It can't go more than 60Hz. You need to use DP or DVI cable.
Also, apparently some games after turning 3Dvision on, have enormous framerate drops:

3dvision requires 120Hz, and since every screen is shown twice, one per eye, effective framerate is 60Hz (I think). So far that's good enough for me, for games that handles 3dvison, but it is of course a tradeoff. I can always turn it off whenever there is a problem (like huge framerate drops). And when the glasses start to hurt, which they do after a while. And when I want to drink coffee and other liquids while playing.

BTW, FO4 doesn't support 3DVision, same with several other games. I run those at 120Hz or 144Hz, of course.

A 240Hz monitor should, if supported, give 120Hz when using 3DVision. Seems from the link you supplied that currently 240Hz is not supported.

I use DVI cables.

pibbur who can wait for a 240Hz 4K monitor.

I have no idea what kinda p my monitor is. One runs at 1650X1080 at 60 and the other 1600X900 at 60. Seems good enough for me. I've had them for at least 5 years....

The first one is awsome for not just gaming but also enjoying bluray movies or 1080p TV. The second one can be used to watch DVDs and is perfect for xbox, but it's time of glory passed.

I know you're into nonshooters so buying a new monitor with less than 5ms GTG response and with refresh more than 60 would be a waste of $ in your case.
Keep the first one you have, but the second, if you're not using it, put on ebay.

Wait, what?? Does the Helix mod not work well for that one? Sheesh, that's a big downer.

I'm not so sure the glasses can flip back and forth at 120Hz even if the monitor can do 240. There are enough crosstalk/timing issues with 60/120!

I tried the mod, but wasn't happy with it. Can't rember why. I'll try it again and come back to you.

Pibbur who considers wearing those glasses permanently, because the world including himself looks exceptionally cool.

PS. Really like your signature. DS.
