Shadow of the Tomb Raider reviews

Hmm, mixed signals. Reading between the lines, this sounds pretty underwhelming overall.

I tend to trust Gamespot reviews for AAA games when they're "negative" - and 6/10 isn't the kind of score you want them to give a game like this.

Oh well, too many games around anyway.

I'm sure it's decent. I've seen a couple of reviews, and it seems the like the most frequent complaint is that it's just more of the same. Which I expected. I'm also not very hyped for it, even though I pre-ordered it. And not really sure why.

But yeah, the rest of the year is packed with quite big new releases. Spiderman and Red Dead Redemption 2 especially.

Thank you for linking that review!

His description of the underwater areas just renewed my interest in the game quite a bit ;)

I'm going to wait for the whatever of the year version that includes the season pass content.
Here, too. Plus that gives the Shader Gods of 3D Vision a chance to make the game work better with my 3D glasses - though the last one actually worked nicely out of the box. The Tomb Raider games are all far better when that rope bridge REALLY looks high!

I don't trust them. But that doesn't matter.
It's Xbone review. They had problems with mushrooms. Posted it somewhere already.
Basically that means: buy the game on PC and play with K+M.

For this site, it is not. This site is enamoured with products designed to provide for streamers'needs so a product that is streamed is a product likely to please this site.

Say what? Streamers' needs? Errrrm...
I don't think this site has anything with pornography.

No. It has to do with streamers needs though. Because what products streamers need to run their job, this site loves and promotes.

It's already must play for me because this series uses 3D Vision better than any game out there. Nixxies will get kudos from me for a long time because of that. The game should be pretty great with VR, too, if that can be done.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s “The Path Home” DLC Wraps Up Lara’s Latest Adventure Today
Whoever was waiting for everything to be released before buying, it's today.

Yea, I was waiting too. :)
The problem is my overgrown backlog lately, so… Will buy, but when will play don't know. :bigcry:

I don't think there's a rush, @joxer;.

The gameplay is pretty good. There's less shooting and more tomb raiding. In fact, I think there might be more tomb raiding than shooting! The graphics are also quite good.

What's not good is the story. It's got plot holes so big as to turn the whole story into non-sense! I'm fine with townsfolk needing Lara's help for just about everything (it's standard RPG stuff, after all) or being able to dive into a lake from about a quarter mile above it but, when the South American local police force can't tell one of their own from a Brit even when she talks to them, you've got some seriously lazy writing going on.

The DLC is a mixed bag. The tomb that comes with each of them is either good or great. What hurts is that each also comes with a weapon and an outfit. I got the Croft edition which includes all the DLC so, when I hit the first campsite, I suddenly had a ton of outfits to pick from. Every time I got a new weapon, several weapon options showed up along with it. That made the crafting system and outfits you could find in the game really pointless. Why dump resources into fixing up your original bow when you've already been handed a bow that's even stronger with the DLC??

You can avoid my fate, though. Just wait until you're at least half way through the game before you buy the season pass. Or buy it but uncheck all the checkboxes on the Steam library page before starting a new game, then turn them on later.

If you've got 3D Vision, the graphics go from quite good to incredible! The Nixxes came through again, though you do have to fiddle with the settings to get 3D to come out nicely and I don't think you can use DX12. Paul's 3D Fix Manager will set everything nicely if you start SotTR once using that application. Those 3D graphics carried me over the plot holes with ease!

P.S. The game is on sale right now, actually. With the summer sale coming up, I expect it will stay that way for a while. There's also a free demo.
