Anyway, I'm not going to write an essay, but here is one game that caught my interest in a recent Kickstarter: Have a look at Roxlou Games "Unwritten Passage". This is a concoction of turn based strategy and role playing game with a dash of King Of Dragon Pass. I think this genre which straddles RPGs and 4x games is a very rich area for investigation and you can see several other upcoming games reaching further into this territory too, such as Forsaken Fortress.
