I only play solo, Wisdom. I have never played a single minute of 7D2D any other way. One of the great things about the game is that you can configure a ton of settings so the game plays the way you like. Let's say you hate running zombies: turn them all off. You like tons of loot: set the abundance higher, etc.
Valheim may one day replace 7D2D as my favorite survival game but it has a very long way to go to do so. It is quite a bit of fun already though, but the developers haven't touched the game hardly at all since they all became millionaires.
