Might and Magic Heroes VII isn't far off now. Ubisoft has profiled the units that will be introduced for fortress warfare.

With the release of Ubisoft and Limbic's Might & Magic Heroes VII: Trial by Fire expansion pack less than a month away, the team has put together a set of profiles for a few of the warfare units available to the new Fortress faction. The Runestone, Fire Cannon, and Dwarven Ballista are all on tap, with accompanying artwork:

Crossbows and siege engines are dwarven specialties, and are vastly preferred to less complicated devices like bows, slings and the like. Dwarven ballista crews are deadly accurate, and can reload and fire fast enough to break up almost any enemy advance.
More information.

Looks pretty boring and I prefer the HoMM V take on the faction. Who wants to move around balistae if you could instead control actual dwarves? Instead of the Runestone, add Rune Priest; instead of the Fire Cannon, Dwarven Cannoneer and change Ballista to Heavy Crossbowman. Then give these units an interesting backstory and design, for example the Crossbowman could use a rapid fire magic/crystal powered mechanism. The Cannoneer could have enhanced exoskeleton powered armour that would allow him to wield the cannon. The other factions and units aren't interesting either.

The devs need stop recreating the same game when no matter how good it is, HoMM 3 will still be rated higher. How about trying something new? Maybe a more unique setting, improved economy and town management, complex hero system with RPG like campaign etc.

I have a hunch that these are not units, but are the dwarven equivalents of the first aid tent, catapult, and ballista.
