Colin McComb PCGamesN Interview
“You enter a 10×10 room. There’s an orc here. It’s guarding a pie.” This scenario is how Colin McComb begins his answer to how writing for PC games differs from writing for tabletop. McComb is best known for his work on the Planescape setting for Dungeons & Dragons, which led to his position as creative lead on a number of critically acclaimed CRPGs, like Torment: Tides of Numenera – a science fantasy RPG set on Earth around a billion years into the future.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Developer Blog - Combat AI
Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the most important features of any single player game. Getting it right is key to the experience: it has to be almost invisible, so players (sort of) forget that they are playing against a machine. It has to be clever and fast enough to be a worthy opponent, but not too much – humans are fallible, after all; and ultimately the player, as the hero of the story, is supposed to win. It has to make use of the game mechanics at hand, not just to be fun and varied but to show the player what can be done. This rings especially true in a game such as Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, where skill-based combat and epic large-scale battles are at the core of the experience.

Shadows: Awakening - Chromaton Chronicles & Armory Pack DLC
Shadows: Awakening – The Chromaton Chronicles leads you to the northern edge of Thole. There lies the mysterious Arcanum Laboratory – a long since abandoned place known for its ruthless and immoral magical experiments. One of those experiments conducted by the Tholean mages involved the baneful energy named Chromaton. It is believed that it has the power to bring inanimate metal to life, but the mages failed to consider the dangers in bringing the unrefined essence into contact with their own living flesh. Perhaps they succeeded, perhaps they failed miserably. The outcome has never been chronicled…until now.
The Legendary Armory pack contains three mighty weapons and three mythic armor sets to steel your hero for the upcoming battles (available at level 3). Also included is a digital artbook showcasing a range of stunning illustrations and concept artworks from the world of Shadows: Awakening. As if this wasn't enough, you can also treat your ears to the digital soundtrack, featuring the game's atmospheric and compelling musical score.
GameBanshee Feature: The Banner Saga 3 Review
Overall, The Banner Saga 3 -- and the trilogy as a whole -- gives a nice playing experience. The storyline is a little bleak, as the world is in a bad place and there aren't any easy answers for survival, but the game offers an intriguing blend of role-playing elements and turn-based combat, and its 15-hour campaign can be played multiple times to see everything and try out different combat parties and strategies. So if you enjoy story-driven games and turn-based strategy, The Banner Saga 3 is definitely a title you should consider.
Vampyr Enjoying "Tremendous Success"
After the successful launch of Vampyr where the game topped the charts in France, the UK, Germany and in many other countries, Dontnod’s game enjoyed tremendous success throughout the second quarter. With praise heaped on it for its production and script, Vampyr is a further confirmation, after MudRunner and The Surge in 2017, of the Group’s ability to create a major event with games that combine unprecedented concepts and high-potential universes.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker Hotfix Patch 1.0.14
Starting from this hotfix, we are changing our development approach. We have got more than one thousand bugs exterminated by now in the 1.1 version of the game. All of those are waiting to be checked and released. To release the 1.1 version we have to refocus the team effort from making frequent hotfixes to working on this big patch. It would take a whole week at minimum to test every aspect of our complex game. That means we need to reduce the frequency of hotfixes and the amount of fixes they consist of during the next 1-2 weeks (although we will definitely attempt to address the most critical issues whether they arise).

Once the Release 1.1 version will be close to stable, we plan to make it available for everyone in special beta branch. We would welcome those players who are interested to check the new version before it released. The detailed instruction how to play the Release 1.1 beta will be available soon.

Grim Dawn Grim Misadventure #150 - Shattering Expectation
It’s Grim Misadventure time up in here! It seems we’ve been at this for entirely too long as this marks our 150th update (the first one ever was on June 10th 2012)! Seems like a nice round number so let’s just stop here…

Ok, not really.

Last time, we took another look into the celestial sky and unveiled the most powerful constellations being introduced in the upcoming Forgotten Gods expansion.

Today, we return to a Shattered reality, a realm reflecting our own, and yet unlike it in many ways. This vast plane of existence contains equally vast wealth for you to claim, but also no shortage of dangers.

When we first previewed the Shattered Realm, we talked about the fundamentals. Today, we are ready to discuss some of the finer nuances that will make each of your Shattered Realm runs a bit more unusual.
Bethesda Says The Elder Scrolls VI Will Be Next Gen Console
It’s news that doesn’t take a lot of guesswork to uncover, but Bethesda Softworks pretty much confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI won’t be in this generation of consoles. In an interview with GameSpot at PAX Aus, ZeniMax Online Studios game director Matt Firor, who is working with Bethesda to produce the game, basically confirmed that it will be a few years off and that it will be a game for the next generation of game consoles.
Looking Back at 10 Years of… Fallout 3
This one hurt; at the beginning of the prior month, we get a list through detailing all the games celebrating an upcoming milestone, whether it be five, ten or even 15 years since their launch – if anyone can remember that far back. The list came back for October with a noticeable game on there. That’s right, Fallout 3 is ten years old this month.
Monster Hunter World has Sold 10.9 million Copies
Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter World has sold 10.9 million copies worldwide. This information comes from the official FAQ that can be found on the company’s Japanese website as well as the company’s latest fiscal report, and as it’s pointed out, about 70% of the total was sold abroad.
Witcher's Geralt Voice Actor Interview
During Gamescon Middle East running this past weekend, I got the chance to sit down with Doug Cockle, the voice behind one of gaming’s most well-known characters, Geralt from CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher franchise. Cockle was nominated for Game Award for Best Performance and won Golden Joystick Award Best Gaming Performance for his voice acting on the critically acclaimed The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. One of the many things people praised about the game at the time was how the characters’ voices always added emotion to the situation and rarely sounded dull. I got the chance to ask Cockle a number of questions about his work on The Witcher franchise, what other roles he wants to play in the future, as well as his film and television background.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Latest Developer Blog Q&A
3D artists give shape to the world we see and experience in a video game. But the devil is in the details, and sometimes what makes a game live and breathe are the small things: not the main characters and impressive buildings, but day-to-day objects such as tools, weapons, and clothes. Gameplay can be as immersive as can be to make you feel like a medieval warrior, but if you’re clothed in sweatpants and the world around you is made of cardboard, immersion jumps out of the window. Today, we talk with one of our 3D artists, Ülker Dikmen, who is one of the people responsible for making Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord not just beautiful, but also a believable world.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker Hotfix Patch 1.0.15
While working on the Release 1.1 version we continue to pay close attention to the issues you keep posting to us (we can't miss the opportunity to say one more time how much we appreciate your help!). As we promised, in this hotfix we are addressing the most critical issues we have solution for by now. It's highly likely that we will have one or two more hotfixes before 1.1 version is ready to go live. The 1.1 version is scheduled for release between November 12th and 16th. We plan to have it available in Beta branch on the next week (we will soon post the detailed instructions on how to play the Release 1.1 Beta).

Back From the Dead: The People Keeping Old MMOs Alive
Few genres manage to evoke the same level of grandiose nostalgia as the MMORPG. Most were in the public eye for just a few short years, they made an impact, drew people into a genre who perhaps wouldn't have taken a second look at it before, then burned out as quickly as they appeared.

The genre is also a classic example of the ebb and flow of trends in the games industry. The incredible success of World of Warcraft inspired a generation of imitators (and innovators) before high profile failures such as APB: All Points Bulletin and Star Wars: The Old Republic made publishers think twice about investing in such complex and risky projects.

But for the fans, these were more than just projects. They were thriving communities where lifelong friendships were formed and passionate vocations found. It's therefore unsurprising that when an MMO's servers go dark, there's always a small cadre of enthusiasts who have the means and the desire to attempt a resurrection. But what is it really like to spend your free time working on someone else's game?

Lords of the Fallen is now DRM-free on GOG.

In the Time of the Ancients, the Worldly Realm was ruled by a God of pure evil, who enslaved all humankind under his Dominion. But fear turned to anger as rebellion grew in the hearts of men - until the dawn of the Great Rising, when the fight for freedom began. After a glorious victory that cast aside the Fallen God, humans dictated a new order… a world where no sin can ever be forgiven and redemption was not an option.

Now, millennia later, the world trembles in fear as the Demonic Rhogar Legion returns from their dark realm, driven by a foul hunger for innocent spirits. Humanity, in a desperate last act, calls upon an unlikely defender - a convicted sinner, rejected by society and cast out of the light… a man known as Harkyn. Now, alongside his mentor, Kaslo, they must travel to the source of the Darkness… to face the Lords of the Fallen.

Plunge into a fast paced action RPG with a complex and satisfying melee combat system where weapons, armor and skills directly influence the enemy's speed and attacks… if all else fails, lay waste to your foes using forbidden magic power.

Path of Exile Coming to PlayStation 4

Warren Spector Talks about Immersive Sims
As far as immersive simulations go, Arkane is right up there among the best practitioners of it. Dishonored is a fairly traditional immersive sim, which is to say that they’re about empowering players. They were clearly inspired by Thief and Deus Ex, which is really cool, and I think they do a great job with empowering players, so no beef there. Their introduction of the way they do magic is also really cool.

“Harvey Smith is over there, who was my lead designer on Deus Ex and the game director on Invisible War. Great pedigree. So it’s no big surprise the that they would make a game that’s closest in spirit and in play to what we do. I’ve got nothing but great things to say about the Dishonored series.”

It's mmo. Allow only one player to play it in the whole world, it's mmo. Put it offline if you want it's still mmo.
Said many times. The number of buyers and concurent players is meaningless. The plan what number of players and is it LAN (in)capable matters.

Additionally:
https://www.vg247.com/2018/11/06/overkills-the-walking-dead-released-pc/
Overkill’s The Walking Dead arrives on Steam for PC today
Seems it doesn't need a server so it's most probably coop up to 4 players. If I misunderstood and it needs server, then it's mmo.
But it's NOT singleplayer. They can advertise whatever they want to say, it's not planned to be played solo.

This isn't surprising….

"Chance encounters [with other players] were immersion-breaking and awkward."

This is every, single multi-player experience I've ever had. It is the most absolute reason why I avoid this type of game completely.

I don't want other people in my story, unless I know them or invite them. Games are not 'social hour' for me. I want to escape. I want to live my own fantasy. Everyone else can fuck off. *shrugs*
