PC Gamer reports that the Two Worlds II DLC: Call of the Tenebrae will be released on May 25.

Two Worlds 2: Call of the Tenebrae expansion release date set

Six years since its last outing.

To be honest, I'd forgotten all about Two Worlds when news of a new engine and incoming DLC packs surfaced last year. Reality Pump and TopWare Interactive kicked off its high fantasy RPG series in 2007, and followed up with Two Worlds 2 in 2010 in Europe and 2011 in North America. It launched an expansion, named Pirates of the Flying Fortress, and then went rather quiet.

A third game, a new engine, and two expansions were announced last March—and now one of those, Call of the Tenebrae, has a release date: May 25.

So, six years on, what's it all about? Here's TopWare with the official word:

"Two Worlds II: Call of the Tenebrae plunges the Hero into a decades-old mystery and a battle against a hideous, ancient evil known as The Tenebrae. The stakes have never been higher, but our hero won’t face this threat alone. Friends and foes both new and old await you, as you fight to discover the truth behind a powerful secret that will shake the Two Worlds universe to its core."

As unpolished as TW1 was I enjoyed it. I played TW2 and thought it was OK but didn't hold my interest long. Will keep an eye on the third game.

I've played through Two Worlds 2 half a dozen times. It has a really fun magic system and I really enjoyed the crafting system and skill systems too. The things that hurt the game were the lackluster storytelling and respawns. I'll be sure to look at Ten Bras ;)

Weirdest DLC release I've heard of. Liked the game, in all it's weird, uh, glory. Desert Rose was best questline in the game ( until the romance scene, then it turned out she is a he, freaked the hell out of me), kind of tumbled afterwards.
This could be interesting, but they're overpricing it.

Never did try this one, I did buy the first game but never could get it to run on my system. If I can ever figure out how to run the first one I might have to get the second.

My sentiments exactly. It was just a generic open world RPG, but the magic system was a lot better than the magic in Skyrim that came out around the same time.

Generic? It's not more generic than many, only overall with a bad writing, and an awful voice acting at least in my native language, a voice acting ensuring breaking any mood the weak writing tried setup.

The Voice acting (in english / male) was the main reason which kept me playing. I loved the extremely dry humor. The first expansion came with a different protagonist if I remember correct, which is why I didn't play it anymore.

The combat was rather bad imho

no strafing/backpedalling totally ruined TW2 for me. Attempts at evasion through aforesaid methods only got me stabbed in the side/back. :D

I finished this game twice; once by itself and the second time with the expansion (Pirates of the Flying Fortress) and the World Merge mod (courtesy of Youngneil) Whilst the animations are awkward and clunky and the open world exploration a little on the dull side, the dry sarcasm and deadpan humour made parts of the game fairly entertaining. The expansion was a little tighter as far as the quest design goes as well.

I'm mildly curious about the late release of this second expansion and will look to read 'Watch player reports when it comes out.

I really liked Two Worlds II but for the life of me, I don't remember why! Re-installing it right now, I'll play through the base game and Pirates in preparation of this new DLC.

I liked TW2 and finished it once. The combat system was a little bit simplistic for my taste but open world gameplay was good enough especially after I had found a no respawn mod. I bought and never played the first expansion, maybe it is a good time to play it before the comin of second expansion.

What's the first one like, next to sequel? Always meaning to play it, heard mixed responses on this.

Very dated and clunky compared to any newer open-world game. It still has its charms though, and the world is fun to explore. You get overpowered pretty easily though.

One of the most cringe-worthy aspects of the first game was the attempt to have characters speak in King James era English. Forsooth, perhaps thou should slayest the dragon, etc. In the second game, you'll meet a guy in a bar who talks like this and the protagonist basically calls him an asswipe. Funniest line in the game, for those who played the first one.

This thread reminds me that I didn't finish Two Worlds II because I decided to go archer and while fleshy things didn't stand a chance against me, I sucked way to bad against undeads and I just stopped playing because of it.

hmm, maybe I should plan a "replay" once I'm done with replaying the Dragon Age series.

The graphics haven't aged TOO badly. I played it in 2015 and they were tolerable, especially if you play indie games and pixel stuff. I may have to replay this too.

For me, the expansion is all about number of hours and whether you have to start over. If it is only a 20-30 hour expansion then it's not going to be worth downloading. If it's basically a total conversion mod, then I'll be very jazzed.

I wonder what Youngneil thinks about this :D

Okay, supposed to only be 10 hours long and $10 if you own the original game. Hmmm...I'll let somebody else bite first!

I will bet this will break his mod. It has been so long, he may not be around. Last time I heard from him was when he did the mod on Kingdoms of Amalur.

He posts here on a new engine he's working on...youngneil1. I believe it is for making Gold Box type games.

Heh, I remember the overdone bloom effect, it was hilarious. Everything just glows and lotsa soft contours...
The whole game looked like some weird radioactive medieval porn movie from the 70s :)
